Dhirubhai Ambani ..started his entrepreneurial career by selling "bhajias"

to pilgrims in Mount Girnar over the weekends. At the age of 16, moved Yemen, where he worked as a gas-station attendant, and as a clerk in an oil company. Back in India, starting from a textile trading company, he is today he is remembered to have built India's largest private sector company, Reliance India Limited, from a scratch.
Narayana Murthy In 1981, Narayana Murthy founded Infosys with six other software professionals. He started the company by borrowing 10,000 from his wife!! The company was started as "Infosys Consultants Pvt Ltd.", with Raghavan's house in Model Colony, Pune, as the registered office! ..a living legend! Chosen as the World Entrepreneur of the Year - 2003 by Ernst and Young.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw ..the richest lady in India today, she founded Biocon India with a capital of Rs.10,000/- in 1978. The initial operation was to extract an enzyme from papaya. Her application for loans was turned down by banks on two counts biotechnology was then a new word and the company lacked assets; but it is today the biggest biopharmaceutical firm in India!

Shahnaz Hussain ..in the year 1977 established her first beauty salon in India. Unlike other salons, she did not use chemical cosmetics. Rather, she made use of Ayurvedic products that are absolutely safe on the human body. She has ushered a new era of herbal cosmetics.

Steve Jobs

..co-founder of Apple Inc., his break-through idea - the need and production of personal computers, In the early 1980s, Jobs was among the first to see the commercial potential of the mouse-driven graphical user interface. Without that, we may have never seen the PC and laptops we are so dependent on today! Instead only mainframes would have been used in the govt. organizations for handling and computation of important, massive data.

Muhammad Yunus

..Bangladeshi banker and economist from a poor background. He previously was a professor of economics where he developed the concept of microcredit. These loans are given to entrepreneurs too poor to qualify for traditional bank loans. Yunus is also the founder of Grameen Bank. In 2006, Yunus and the bank were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
