Introduction to Entertainment
Entertainment is an activity designed to give people a diversion. It is usually conducted in one's free time. An audience may participate in the entertainment passively as in watching opera or a movie, or actively as in games. The playing of sports and reading of literature could be considered a form of entertainment, but these are more often called recreation, because they involve some active participation. The industry that provides entertainment is called the entertainment industry.

Importance of Entertainment
Entertainment certainly is an integral part of everyones life irrespective of anything. Each one requires entertainment to have a fun-filled life. Just imagine yourself in a single room with all the facilities that one requires to lead a comfortable life but with no contact of outside world. You surely will imagine yourself relishing in the outset but will find it irritating and suffocating to live there for long. Chatting and babbling with others, speaking to yourself, dancing, singing what are these? These are nothing but different sources of entertainment and their one and only objective is to entertain yourself and the people involved with you. In fact, even animals and birds do need entertainment. For any student of our class, it is almost impossible to live without television a day. This clearly indicates how much we are attached to entertainment as it is also one of the basic necessities.

Entertainment in India is one of the biggest industries grossing revenues beyond human capabilities to count. The cultural heritage of the country goes on to prove the significance of art and culture in all the ages of the country. Entertainment however captures a broader perspective by considering any activity that provides pleasure to man and is considered as recreational. Sources of entertainment in any country depend upon the tradition, culture and the resources available in that place. India as a country has supported the cause of art, literature and music from time immemorial. Entertainment in India in the recent times comprises of the cultural activities, sports and several of the festivals celebrated here.

Modes of Entertainment in India

Each and every mode of Entertainment in India comes with its own sets of elegance and sophistication. The number of programs that the people over here draw pleasure from is innumerable. There are several other ideas of entertainment in the recent times that has been imported from the western countries. Generally Indian citizens prefer to stick to their roots and draw immense pleasure from their own culture. Some of the prominent modes of entertainment that have existed for long to attain the status cult are music, cinema and sports.

Why is Entertainment important for a child?

Entertainment is important in a childs life. Without some sort of entertainment children will get dull and frustrated. Entertainment plays an important role in the upbringing process of a child. It helps a child develops his skills and help him learn new things. Entertainment and recreation also gives parents a chance to have a rest from their children while they are busy with their entertainment activities. There is no specific form of entertainment which is helpful for a childs growth. A child is entertained in different ways mainly Television: Television plays a very important in developing general knowledge in a child. One of the best educative programs for kids is discovery kids channel. Such types of educative programs helps a child nurture his knowledge and learn new things. There are also different quiz programs that can develop a childs thinking for a better tomorrow.

Its very important that parents induce their children to informative programs from the beginning. Animation provides moving images that are generated by an artist, in contrast to the live action normally used in motion pictures. It is typically accompanied by a sound track consisting of recordings of live actors. Animation is often used in computer-based forms of entertainment. Cartoons are a comedic form of animation. They are loved by all children. They just need cartoons and they are solved. It is really a stress buster and amuses our minds. Nowadays, animation movies are also encouraged in cinema. Thus, Animation is really an interesting form of entertainment.

Cinema
Cinema provides moving pictures as an art form. Cinema may also be called films or movies. A film produces an illusion of motion by presenting a series of individual image frames in rapid succession. Films are produced by a crew that handle the cameras, sets and lighting. The cast consists of actors who appear in front of the camera and follow a script. After the film has been shot, it is edited then distributed to theaters or television studios for viewing.

Certainly, it is one of the biggest source of entertainment in India. Indian people are simply crazy for bollywood. They find it a fresh source of entertainment where they can enjoy about 2 hours 30 minutes of fun in the theatre. One cannot deny the fact that cinema is spreading its arms and making it a huge entertainment source in India.

Circus
Circus acts include acrobats, clowns, trained animals, trapeze acts, hula hoopers, tightrope walkers, jugglers, unicyclists and other stuntoriented artists. A circus is commonly a traveling company of performers that may include acrobats, clowns, animals, trapeze acts, hoppers, tightrope walkers, jugglers, unicyclists and other stuntoriented artists. The word also describes the performance that they give, which is usually a series of acts that are choreographed to music. People do not often miss circuses whenever it is in their reach as it provides so colorful and fabulous acts which soothes all age groups.

Comedy
Comedy is any humorous discourse generally intended to amuse, especially in television, film, and stand-up comedy. Comedy provides laughter and amusement. Comedy and humorous films are of great interests to all. Everyone enjoys comedy as it makes us laugh. And dont forget the fact that Laughter is the Best Medicine as it relieves pain and discomfort. It lets us forget everything else and relax ourselves. Laughter can make even the most sad one to smile.

Dance
Dance refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music, used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting. Dance includes ballet, cancan, Charleston, Highland fling, folk dance, sun dance, modern dance, polka and many more. People not only watch dances but also perform them. And in both the cases they are entertaining themselves. So, by dance we can entertain ourselves with dual ways.

Reading
Reading comprises the interpretation of written symbols. An author, poet or playwright sets out a composition for publication to provide education or diversion for the reader. The format includes paperback or hard cover books, magazines, periodicals, puzzle books, crossword magazines and coloring books. Fantasy, horror, science fiction and mystery are forms of reading entertainment.

Games
Games provide relaxation and diversion usually following a rule set. Games may be played by one person for their own entertainment, or by a group of people. Games may be played for achievement or money such as gambling or bingo. Racing, chess or checkers may develop physical ormental prowess. Games may be geared for children, or may be played outdoors such as lawn bowling. Equipment may be necessary to play the game such as a deck of cards for card games, or a board and markers for board games such as Monopoly, or backgammon. A few may be ball games, Blind man's bluff, board games, card games, children's games, croquet, frisbee, hide and seek, number games, paintball, and video games to name a few.

Sports
Sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. Sports commonly refer to activities where the physical capabilities of the competitor are the sole or primary determinant of the outcome (winning or losing), but the term is also used to include activities such as mind sports (a common name for some card games and board games with little to no element of chance) and motor sports where mental acuity or equipment quality are major factors. Sport is commonly defined as an organized, competitive and skillful physical activity requiring commitment and fair play.

Adverse effects of Entertainment

So, we were in the world of Entertainment just minutes ago. We can say that without entertainment our life is in black and we are not aware of anything nor our mind gets time to relax. On the other hand, we also saw adverse effects of entertainment on us and so we come to the conclusion that entertainment brings about a change but we must not cross our limits otherwise we can be in trouble. So, have loads of entertainment but up to an extent.
