Tokyo was originally a small fishing village named Edo, in what was formerly part of the old Musashi Province. It is now the capital of Japan and the largest metropolitan area of the world.

Urban Design
Shibuya Station district In June 2009, the TMG (TokyoMetropolitan Government) decided on urban planning for the area that included the station square, roads and railroads; and in cooperation with the central government, Shibuya ward, and railway companies, is proceeding with initiatives aiming to reorganize and develop features such as railroad facilities, station squares, and station buildings in an integrated manner. Furthermore, this area will also be turned into one that bets its position as a hub for new culture bustling but pleasant to stroll around in by properly guiding developments by the private sector.
Architectural Landmark
The Imperial Palace the main residence of the Emperor of Japan. It is a large park-like area located in the Chiyoda area of Tokyo close to Tokyo Station and contains several buildings including the main palace, the private residences of the imperial family, an archive, museum and administrative offices. It is built on the site of the old Edo castle. The total area including the gardens is 3.41 square kilometres (1.32 sq mi).
The Tokyo Tower - modelled after the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but it is taller and lighter than its French counterpart, making it the tallest self-supporting steel structure in the world. Higashimurayama City Honcho district project
Approximately 10 hectares of land generated from reconstruction of metropolitan housing (total land area: approx. 24 hectares) are used to promote development centering on the construction of detached houses. The project includes a total of 280 detached houses and facilities such as daycare centers, welfare facilities for the elderly, and commercial facilities, as well as roads and parks.
Kaminari Gate - is the outer of two large entrance gates that ultimately leads to the Sens-ji (a Buddhist temple) in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. It stands 11.7 m tall, 11.4 m wide and covers and area of 69.3 m2.

Architectural Landmark
Eiffel Tower an iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris, named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower.
The Arc de Triomphe de l'toile honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces
Boulevards, angled across existing streets and linked together at diagonals, served many different functions. They connected the city's new train terminals more efficiently, allowed the quick deployment of troops in case of revolts and "disembowelled" the troublesome neighbourhoods. more expedient transport of goods and services around town as the local economy shifted from small artisans working near their homes to an industrialized system spread over a wide area. eight new arrondissements added around the periphery of Paris set up an extendible matrix for future growth.
Opra Bastille - a modern opera house in Paris, France, it was inaugurated in 1989. Designed by Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott, it is located at the place de la Bastille, and houses a 2,700seat theater as well as smaller concert hall and a studio.
