overheating of parts of a computer. wear and tear of mechanical parts such as disk drives.

over loading with extra programs. exposing your system to viruses.

3)MEASURES TO PREVENT HARDWARE FAILURES:

Dust cleaning- keyboard with

cotton buds, outer surface cleaning.

Preventing damage by heat and water- don't place your PC under

direct sunlight. Don't spill water on your PC.

Ensuring regular power supply-

safe clean voltage, uninterruptible power supply.

4)MEASURES TO PREVENT SOFTWARE FAILURES:

Eliminating viruses- use of antivirus software to scan

for viruses. E.g. Norton.

Deleting unnecessary files- delete all unnecessary

files from the hard disk to prevent it from being overloaded. Emptying the recycle bin- delete the temporarily stored files which is unnecessarily occupying the space. Cleaning up the windows desktop- clean up the desktop by organizing and changing the size of the icons.
