Who are the responsible team and what are their job scope?

Rapid Response Team (RRT)

What is a Rapid Response Team ?


A designated group of healthcare clinicians who can be assembled quickly to deliver critical care expertise in response to clinical deterioration of a patient located outside a critical care unit

Membership of RRT
Build of: - Local healthcare provider - Laboratorist - Epidemiologist

By referring to Policies And Procedures On Infection Control, Ministry of Health: Hospital Infection and Antibiotic Control Committee (HIACC) Membership of the HIACC
The members should include:
The Infection Control Doctor (Chairman) Medical Microbiologist (if not available, scientific officer in microbiology) The Infectious Disease Physician / Paediatrician

The Infection Control Sister or the most senior infection control nurse (ICN) The Director /Deputy Director of the hospital A consultant virologist A consultant physician or surgeon A consultant pediatrician A consultant anaesthesiologist /intensivist A representative each from all major clinical departments (preferably at specialist or consultant level) The Nursing Director A pharmacist Senior representative from the hospital support service concessionaire

Invited attendance:
The following may be co-opted by the Chairman to attend for specific items requirement:
Other clinical consultants The Financial Manager Nursing sisters of specific clinical areas The Hospital Engineer(s) The Head of Dietetics The Central Sterile Supplies Department (CSSD) Manager The Operation Theatre Matron/ Sister The Senior health inspector in-charge of the public health unit

THE JOB SCOPE

They must be available to respond immediately when called, and not be constrained by competing responsibilities They must be onsite and accessible They must have the critical care skills necessary to assess and respond

Goal of RRT
Is to treat warning signs early so that the patients outcome may be improved and a cardiac arrest prevented

Job Scope of RRT


Assists the staff members in assessing and stabilizing the patients condition Assists the staff members in organizing information to be communicated to the patients physician Educates and supports the staff as they care for the patient If circumstances warrant, assists with patient transfer to a higher level of care The RRT is not intended to replace care provided by the patients physician
