Theme & Objectives

Now more than ever Targeting zero

Strategic objectives:
Serve as an advocacy platform to mobilize and engage African scientists, leaders, partners and the community at large to target the zero objective.

Provide a forum for exchange of knowledge, skills and consolidation of experiences and best practices in Africa and around the globe to scale up evidence-based response to HIV/AIDS/STIs, TB and malaria, to achieve the health MDGs goal, especially the three zeros' vision of UNAIDS.

Use as a forum to link and hold accountable political and national leaders, the scientific community, practitioners, communities, civil societies, the private sector and partners to scale-up and sustain the response HIV & AIDS, TB and malaria. Create opportunities to define priorities and set policy and programme agenda to enhance mobilization and effective utilization of resources.

Content of the Programme


1) Pre conference events
Various stakeholders, by submission to the Programme committee Include variety of activities: Youth Forum MSH Forum Marches Etc.

2) Opening ceremony
Entry door of the Conference Inauguration of the conference: cultural performances, speeches. Reflects all components of the conference

3) Plenary sessions: Themes, speakers, chairs decided/selected by the ISC. Deals with issues related to the 3 main programmes. Respect a high standard quality. 3 topics daily from Sunday to Wed. 4) The 3 main programmes

5 tracks Each track has:
Abstract based sessions:
oral sessions and posters exhibitions

Non abstract driven sessions SBW

Track A: Basic Science Track B: Clinical Science, care and treatment Track C: Epidemiology and prevention Science Track D: Social Science, Human Rights and Political Science Track E: health System and Implementation Science

Community Programme
It includes: NADS (Symposia) SBW Community Village:
Exhibition Booths Networking zones: sex work, diaspora, disablity, women, LGBT Youth zone

Community talks
From 10.30 to 21 Sunday to Wed Dedicated theme each day Quick overview

Lounge of PLWHA
Dedicated space for PLWHA

Cultural events/performances Condomize

Leadership Programme
Gathering of all leaders within various sessions: Political leaders Community leaders Youth leaders Heads of international agencies Opportunity for advocacy work Session includes NADS (Symposia) SBW Special events
