pattern of relationship between them who perceive

themselves as a group.

Group Dynamics

Group dynamics contains two terms: group and dynamics. Group is basically a collectivity of two or more persons. Dynamics comes from Greek word meaning FORCE. Thus, Group dynamics is concerned with the interactions of forces among group members in a social situation. Group Dynamics is defined as several individuals who come together to accomplish a particular task or goal. Group dynamics refers to the attitudinal and behavioral characteristics of a group.

Principles of Group Dynamics

The members of the group must have a strong sense of belonging to the group .The barrier between the leaders and the ones to be led must be broken down.

Organizations involve the development of formal and informal work groups built around specializations.

Groups develop norms (Completion of works in

proper form, shared beliefs, values, and

assumptions) and expect conformity through reward 5

Principles of Group Dynamics (Cont)

Norms generate organizational stability, but can lead to over conformity. When a group becomes institutionalized, the norms

become the basis for a cohesive group and an

organizational subculture.

Conclusion

Group dynamics is concerned with the interaction

between the group members in a social situation,

how they develop and their effect on the individual members and the organization in which they function.

Group Dynamics is essential to study since it helps

to find how the relationships are made within a

group and how the forces act within the group members in a social setting.
