ANNUAL SURVEY

For seagoing ships, including:


hull, anchoring eqpmt, machinery, electrical plant, special eqpmt classed

Interval: 12 months Survey Period: 3 months (counted from the current class will complete 1 year of validity) On drydocking (if it is due), or on Ship afloat Ship with accomdtn for more 12 passgr survey must include drydocking survey

ANNUAL SURVEY PERIOD

Surveys fall due annually between Class Renewals. The due date is anniversary date in which the relevant period of class began. The survey may be carried out in the period extending from 3 months before to 3 months after the due date (time window).
Example: Start of Period of class: 01-09-2008 Due dates: 31-08-2009, 31-08-2010 etc Due period for survey: 01-06-2009 to 30-11-2009. Next period is 01-06-2010 to 30-11-2010 etc

ANNUAL SURVEY (HULL)


Structure: Visual Inspection (as far as accessible) Cargo Holds & Engine Room: Random Survey (acc. to age and condition) Hatches, bhd doors, ramps, bow, side and stern doors: Surveys acc to tightness and operability Steering gear & Anchor eqpmt: Survey for visible damages Ballast tanks: Survey for corrosion damages (>75% of allowable margins) In case suspected damage: surveyor entitled to carry further investigation

ANNUAL SURVEY (MACHINERY)

Machinery, Boiler Room, Aux Engine, Fire & Explosive Sources, Emergency exit: General Inspection Boiler & Pressure Vessels (appliances and safety devices) Remote Control, Quick Stopping Devices Main & Aux Steering Gear Communication Syst: bridges to E/R Bilge System Main & Emgcy Power Supply Systems Explosion-proof Installations

1.A. Annual Surveys (FIRE SYST)


Fire mains, incl hose & nozzles Gas Fire Extinguishing Syst Dry Powder & Foam system Sprinkles & other fixed Extinguishing syst Portable Extinguishing syst Fire Detection & Alarm System Emgcy stops: Ventilation, Boiler, and Fuel Syst Fire Closure: Fire dampers, E/R Skylight Firemans Outfits

INTERMEDIATE SURVEY

Refered as: Extended annual survey Interval: 2.5 yrs after class renewal For seagoing ships: on the 2nd or 3rd of annual survey Items to inspect:

Ballast tank Cargo Holds Bow visors, Boe sides, and Stern doors Elastic mounting of deck houses Machinery and Electrical installations

INTERMEDIATE SURVEY PERIOD

The survey becomes due 2 1/2 years after the commencement of the period of class (commissioning resp. Class renewal). The due date is to be calculated from the day at which the current period of class will complete 2 years of validity. The survey may be conducted on the occasion of the 2nd or 3rd annual class survey. Any items to be surveyed in addition to those required to be surveyed during Annual Surveys may be alternatively surveyed during the period between the 2nd and 3rd Annual Surveys.

INTERMEDIATE SURVEY (BALLAST TANK)


For 5 to 10 yrs ships: selected tanks only For > 10 yrs ships: all tanks should be inspected Corrosion and/or Protective Coating damages Thickness measurement if necessary For repair of coating and damage: all working procedure must be documented

INTERMEDIATE SURVEY (CARGO HOLDS)


Depend on ships age ang cargo carried Selected cargo holds to be closely examined Ensure the condition of all important structural elements Test and measurement if necessary

INTERMEDIATE SURVEY
(BOW VISOR, BOW SIDE, & STERN DOORS)

Structure to be inspected thouroughly and to be additionally crack tested Crack tests will cover:

Main joining welds Center of rotation of the hinges Locking devices and stoppers Repair welding

Test methods: Dye penetrant or Magnaflux

INTERMEDIATE SURVEY
(MACHINERY AND ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION)
Measurement for components as follows: Crank web deflections of M/E Crank web deflections of A/E (if relevant) Axial thrust bearing clearance of shaft syst Axial thrust bearing clearance of main and aux turbine rotors Insulation resistance of generators and essential electrical motors, incl cabling and swicthgear

INTERMEDIATE SURVEY
(MACHINERY AND ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION)

Operation test for components as follows: Emgcy gen-set incl emgcy switchboard Emgcy bilge valve Bilge, ventilation, and monitoring syst for the carriage of dangerous goods Drainage facilities of starting air and control air receivers General operational test of the machinery, electrical installation, and Automation equipment

1.C. CLASS RENEWAL SURVEY

To be carried out at the end of class period for the ships items as follows:

Period: start at 4th annual survey, and must be completed not exeed in 15 months May be carried out in several parts Periodical survey and inspections for machinery and propulsion system is integral part of class renewal survey Class renewals for hull are in sequence (I, II, III, etc)

Hull, incl anchoring equipment Machinery, incl electrical plant Any special equipment classed

1.C. CLASS RENEWAL SURVEY (HULL)


CLASS RENEWAL I (< 5 YRS SHIPS): All spaces and hull structural elements, particularly those areas exposed to fatigue and corrosion:

Tanks:

Cargo holds, Tanks, Hatch Bow visor, side and stern doors Engine foundation, piping systems

Tightness test: subject to Pressure test


Seawater ballast tanks (at discretion) F.o, l.o, and feedwater need not to be emptied Each compartment of d/b Bulkhead (attached to ship structure)
