About Amul
Amul was formed in 1946. Dr. Verghese Kurein is the chairman of GCMMF. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), is India's largest food product marketing organisation. Its daily milk procurement is approx 13 million lit per day from 16914 village milk cooperative societies, 17 member unions covering 24 districts, and 3.18 million milk producer members. The name of brand has its origin from sanskrit word Amoolya means Priceless. The name was actually suggested by an employee of GCMMF. The Amul is a largest food brand in india and worlds largest pouched milk brand. Having an annual turn over of 19,100 crore (2013).
