THE BLOTTING OUT OF SIN

GET READY, GET READY, GET READY!

BLOTTING OUT OF SINS BY THE PROPHETS

Moses:
"For on this day atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you of all your sins ; you shall be clean before the Lord."Lev. 16 :30. "And ye shall do no work in that same day : for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God ."Lev. 23 :28 . And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation. (Lev. 16:33)

ISAIAH:
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. (Is. 1:18) Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou [art] my servant: I have formed thee; thou [art] my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me. I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee. (Is. 44:21-22) But thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities. I, [even] I, [am] he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. (Is. 43:24-25)

Jeremiah: "In those days, and in that time, saith the Lord,
the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none ; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found : for I will pardon them whom I reserve ."Jer . 50 :20 ; Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. (Jer. 31:34) And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it. (Jer. 33:8)

PAUL: For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. (Ti. 2:11-14) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. (Heb. 8:12) This [is] the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (Heb. 10:16-17) And [having] an high priest
over the house of God; Let us hold fast the profession of [our] faith without wavering; (for he [is] faithful that promised;) (Heb. 10:21, 23)

JOHN THE REVELATOR!

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (1JOHN. 3:2-3)

Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come (REV. 14:7). And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (REV. 22:12) For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand (REV. 6:17) ? Only those, who keeps the commandments of God, Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. (REV. 22:14) Only those, who have the faith of Jesus, And from Jesus Christ, [who is] the faithful witness, [and] the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen (REV. 1:5-6).

BLOTTING OUT OF SIN BY THE PIONEERS!

A. T. JONES "And the blotting out of sins is exactly this thing of the cleansing of the sanctuary ; it is the finishing of all transgression in our lives ; it is the making an end of all sins in our character ; it is the bringing in of the very righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ, to abide alone everlastingly. This blotting out of sins must precede the receiving of the refreshing of the latter rain. Forit is only upon those who have the blessing of Abraham that the promise of the Spirit comes, and it is only those who are redeemed from sin upon whom the blessing of Abraham comes. Gal. 3:13, 14. Therefore now as never before we are to repent and be converted that our sins may be blotted out, that an utter end shall be made of them forever in our lives and everlasting righteousness brought in. And this, in order that the fulness of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit shall be ours in this time of the refreshing of the latter rain. And all this must be done in order that the harvest-ripening message of the gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world with that power from on high by which the earth shall be lightened with its glory. (The Consecrated Way, p. 64)

The erasing of sin is the blotting of it from our natures (characters), so that we shall know it no more. "The worshipers once purged" -- actually purged by the blood of Christ have "no more conscience of sin," because the way of sin is gone from them. Their iniquity may be sought for, but it will not be found. It is for ever gone from them, -- it is foreign to their new natures, and even though they may be able to recall the fact that they have committed certain sins, they have forgotten the sin itself -- they do not think of doing it any more. This is the work of Christ in the true sanctuary which the Lord pitched, and not man, -- the sanctuary not made with hands, but brought into existence by the thought of God. E. J. WAGGONER. -- Review and Herald, September 30, 1902.

When Christ entered heaven, He went as the Antitype of the earthly service God had ordained, and entered upon His work within the first veil of the heavenly sanctuary. When the typical work ordained by God in the first apartment of the earthly sanctuary had fully met its Antitype, He passed through the second6 veil into the glorious apartment of the antitypical holy of holies. There He is to perform the marvelous service which will end in the blotting out and total destruction of the sins of the righteous, nevermore to be remembered by the redeemed host nor by God Himself. "What has become of the records of those who have lived righteous lives?Jer. 31 :33, 34 ; 50 :20. "The righteous will enjoy to the full the promise of the new covenant : 'They shall all know Me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord : for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more .'Jer . 31 :34. "'I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins .'Isa . 44 :22. "'I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins .'Is. 43 :25. "'Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea . Micah 7 :19. "In that day the sins of Israel cannot be found . Should any want to uncover or remember them, they cannot be found, for they will have been blotted out .

The church of our Lord will have been made ready and prepared to meet her Lord ." "Therefore on this day of atonement, when the work of blotting out of sin for the people was completed, the sanctuary also must be cleansed from sin and its effects . So when the high priest left the sanctuary that day, in type ; there would be no more remembrance or thought of sin ." F . C . Gilbert, Practical Lessons from the Experience o f Israel, 1902, p . 260 .

We cannot, for a moment, suppose that the sin of any will be blotted out or covered, who still maintains his opposition and enmity to God; but he who confesses and forsakes shall find mercy; that is, he who is reconciled shall have his sins forgiven and blotted out. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9. "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Prov. 28:13. ATONEMENT, p. 198

We have found that, when the priest made the atonement, he took the blood and cleansed the sanctuary of God from the sins wherewith it had been defiled; and this is the only act which will answer to the expression of blotting out the sins, for blood was the only thing that would remove them. Hence, while the blood of Christ was shed for all, the efficacy of that blood in atoning for, or blotting out, sin, is contingent, is availing only for those who will repent and be converted. He died for the world, he died for all; and he is able to save to the uttermost them that come unto God by him. Heb. 7:25. But he will save no others. Acts 3:19. "Repent ye, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." This blotting out is by the blood which the High Priest brings into the sanctuary to cleanse it from sin. THE ATONEMENT p.191, 198.

The great foundation of the whole is the sacrifice of Christ; the shedding of his blood for the sins of the world. Heb. 9:22. To us belongs reconciliation through his death. Rom. 5:10; 2 Cor. 5:20. As the work of the priests under the law only reached its ultimate object when the high priest went into the most holy place with the blood of the sin offering, and cleansed the sanctuary of God from the sins of the people, so the result of the gospel of remission is fully accomplished, not by the death of the sacrifice; not by our repentance and reconciliation to God; but, by the action of our great High Priest, who appears in the presence of God for us, in blotting out our sins and removing them forever from the presence of the throne of the Most High. THE ATONEMENT, p. 200

The Investigative judgment and the Blotting Out of Sins : The blood of Christ, while it was to release the repentant sinner from the condemnation of the law, was not to cancel the sin. It would stand on record in the sanctuary until the final atonement; so in the type the blood of the sin-offering removed the sin from the penitent, but it rested in the sanctuary until the day of atonement. In the great day of final award, the dead are to be 'Judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Then by virtue of the atoning blood of Christ, the sins of all the truly penitent will be blotted from the books of heaven.

Thus the sanctuary will be freed, or cleansed, from the record of sin. In the type, this great work of atonement, or blotting out of sins, was represented by the services of the day of atonement, the cleansing of the earthly sanctuary, which was accomplished by the removal, by virtue of the blood of the sin-offering, of the sins by which it had been polluted. As in the final atonement the sins of the truly penitent are to be blotted from the records of heaven, no more to be remembered or come into mind, so in the type they were borne away into the wilderness, forever separated from the congregation.-P.P, page 357, 358.

All who have truly repented of sin, and by faith claimed the blood of Christ as their atoning sacrifice, have had pardon entered against their names in the books of heaven; as they have become partakers of the righteousness of Christ, and their characters are found to be in harmony with the law of God, their sins will be blotted out, and they themselves will be accounted worthy of eternal life. The Lord declares, by the prophet Isaiah, I, even am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Said Jesus: He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels. -Great Controversy, 483:2.

BLOTTING OUT OF SIN BY OTHER SDA LEADERS!

God keeps an account with each man. Whenever a prayer for forgiveness ascends to God from a true heart, God forgives. But after men have been forgiven they at times change their minds. They repent of their repentance. They show by their lives that their repentance is not permanent. And so God, instead of forgiving absolutely and finally, marks forgiveness against men's names and waits with the final blotting out of sins until they have had time to think the matter through. If at the end of their lives they are still of the same mind, abhorring their sins in sincere repentance, God counts them faithful, and in the day of judgment their record is finally cleared. The day of final judgment includes not only the blotting out of the sins of the righteous but also the eradication of sin from the universe. It includes the placing upon the head of Satan all sin for which he is responsible, and the cutting off of all who had not afflicted their souls. So likewise in the sanctuary service the sins were placed on the head of the scapegoat after the cleansing of the sanctuary had been completed. Then those who had not repented were cut off. First comes perfection of character. It is an ongoing process which is occurring now. Then, after the church-state union and the national Sunday law enactment which produces the formation of the image, the judgment passes to the living as men and women make their intelligent decisions to sacredly observe the Bible Sabbath or bow to the child of the papacy. Then, simultaneously for the righteous, comes the seal of God, blotting out of sin, the marriage in the most holy place, and the latter rain. In contrast, at the same time the wicked make their decision and receive the mark of the beast, an even greater outpouring of satanic zeal and hatred than they had earlier possessed.
