The Recruitment Process at Sykes

The screening and hiring process at Sykes is designed to educate and attract the very best and brightest nursing professionals in the country. During the process, nurses will undergo an initial screening and assessment prior to participating in a realistic job preview. This is then followed by a personal interview and reference follow-up.

STEP 1 Do Your Research


One

of the most important things you can do before applying for a job with a potential nursing employer is to learn more about their practice and services. The knowledge you gain before you apply will help you to customize your resume to the posted job requirements. Things to research include: The facility,hospital,unit and the specific job in question The employers goals, values and future direction Organization structure, job demands and patient base

STEP 2 Rewrite Your Resume

What should you consider when rewriting your resume? At Sykes, we recommend focusing on what makes you exceptional tell us specifically why youre the right person for the job. Youll want to write a resume and cover letter that emphasize your leadership qualities, knowledge, skills, and experience. Remember, applying for a job is a competition. You want to make sure that your submission stands out from the crowd.

Step 3 Collect the Correct Documentation


Take the time to carefully review your job application prior to submitting it. Have you made sure to include all of the requested documentation? Some job applications will require a copy of your resume or CV, a cover letter, a complete and typed list of references, a copy of your nursing license, and any letters of recommendation that you might have. Its also a good idea to keep extra copies of these documents handy during an interview.

Step 4 Preparing for the Interview


The interview is the most important component of your RN job in Ontario search. This is your chance to sell your skills and seal the deal! Its important to note that the interview process for RN careers in Ontario has become more and more complex over the years. Questions may relate to specific clinical situations or conflict management. How you answer will provide the interviewer(s) with insight regarding your knowledge and ability to handle stressful situations.

Here are some important things to consider prior to your RN job interview:

type of interview will this be? Behavioural interviews, for example, are used to assess how you behave in specific situations. Number of interviewers will this be a panel interview or a one-on-one situation? Anticipate the types of questions that you will be asked. Prepare a list of questions to ask concerning the organization, the position, roles and responsibilities.
