WHAT DOES AN ENGINEER MEAN?

Basically, engineers are problem-solvers. They put scientific knowledge to practical use, applying science and math to solve problems creatively. They are involved with the design, construction and operation of everything from bridges to computer chips. In fact, without engineers, our modern way of life would not be very modern at all.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Good at math and science Creative and imaginative Have good communication skills Like working in teams
Always willing to learn new things

PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS

Should have a desire to solve problem. Train his mind to look at problems from all angles. Should be patient while solving problems. Should try to solve the problem by mathematical tools.

DECISION MAKING SKILL

A good engineer should have a good decision making skill. He should be able to make right decision at right time. He should be able to justify his decision. He should also consider the opinions or ideas given by his colleagues before making any decision.

TAKING THINGS APART

Take things apart in order to get more solutions.

EXAMPLE

If you take say a typical desktop computer apart you know that there are a lot of circuit boards, come wiring harnesses, and a fan. That would be one way to look at it. But if you begin to look at each board you see what type of surface mount resistors were used, what processor was used, and the leads for interconnection?

WELL INFORMED ABOUT THE TOOLS

A good engineer should always be well informed about his tools. He should first think about the tools needed before solving any problem. He should also know how to work with these tools to get the best results. He should use the latest and advanced tools so that he may get more accurate results.

TIME FACTOR

Time factor matters a lot in life of an engineer. A good engineer should know how to manage his time. He should be punctual. He should be able to complete his tasks in a given span of time.

BE CURIOUS

Be curious about problems.

Be curious about solutions. Be curious about all those tools (equations, formulae, and machine tools) that will help him find solutions to problems Be curious about new ideas.

CONCLUDING REMARKS

Concluding all this discussion we can say that

Engineering is not only a profession but a way of life
