methods and outcomes. It is a value
based process, which is aimed towards
meeting the twin goal of enhanced
effectiveness of the organization and
improved quality of life of work for
employees.”

(factories Act 1948)

control for developing human resources
vii. Scope for better career opportunities.

organization climate
 Major problems facing by both
developing and developed countries.
 Contradictory and conflicting
nature.
 QWL is more concerned with the
overall climate of work and the
impact that the work has on people
as well as on organizational
effectiveness.
Continues..
 Ultimate objectives of the QWL is

organizational interface leads to a
better QWL.
Continues..
 Work redesign is a powerful
instrument of cultural and
attitudinal change.
 Bureaucratic form of work
organization reinforces the
authoritarism of traditional society
and redesign based on participative
principle will tends to foster
democratic values in the society at
the large.
 Redesign the systems which will
sustain and strengthen the
predominant patterns of behavior
that already exist in a given culture.
In India, semi autonomous groups as
unit should be more geared towards
incorporating the main orientations
of people.
 In India QWL is confined to
organized sectors of industry and
government, which is a small
percentage of total working
population.
Requirement for success
of QWL
 Management must be committed to
an open and transparent style of
operation.
 Employees must be given
opportunities for advancement.
 Supervisors must be trained to
function in a collaborative style.
 Traditional status barrier between
Mgt and Workforce should be
broken.
 Employees should receive feed back
about their performance and
recognition of superior
performance.
 Promotion based on excellence.
 Both +ve and –ve outcomes of the
QWL improvement programme
should be analysed and evaluated
Conclusion
 Technological advances further help
organizations to implement these
programs successfully.
 Organizations are enjoying the
fruits of implementing QWL
programs in the form of increased
productivity,
 an efficient, satisfied, and
committed workforce
 The future work world will also have
more women entrepreneurs and
they will encourage and adopt QWL
programs.
