Recognizing And Identifying Problems / Issue The aim of this step is to teach the client how to
recognize when a problem exists so they can correctly identify it and begin to solve it. This may sound obvious but is not always straightforward to achieve. When someone is used to either avoiding problems or responding impulsively, their ability to first recognize a problem exists and then correctly identify what that problem is may be under developed. .

results in generating a list of problem areas with the client which will form the basis of your work together. More importantly, it provides the client with the skills necessary for the ongoing real life task of problem recognition and identification
Selecting And Defining A Clear Problem The third step in problem solving therapy is
to assist the client to select one clear problem to work on and then define it. Defining a problem clearly is particularly important because the more clearly a problem is defined, the easier it is to find possible solutions.

result in fuzzy( Unclear) solutions. Clear definition is achieved by gathering all the available facts and writing them clearly and objectively.
Generating Solutions
After selecting and defining a problem to
work on, the fourth step in problem solving therapy is to identify possible solutions, and brainstorming is how we accomplish this..
Brainstorming
is a method of generating as many possibilities and alternative solutions to the problem at hand without evaluating their potential usefulness

to increase the likelihood of coming up with an effective solution. It involves asking the client to come up with all the ideas they can think of that could contribute to solving the problem. The main criteria are that each idea should be relevant to the problem and have a chance of solving the problem or contributing to solving it

potential solutions, the fifth step is decision making. In this step the client looks in more depth at the solutions generated during the brainstorm, and by weighing up the advantages and disadvantages of potential solutions makes a decision about which one to implement. The aim is to find a solution that will be effective.

difficult, with potential solutions going round and round in their minds. It can certainly be difficult to know where to start when you have a large number of options before you. The clinician's role is to teach the client a systematic way to sort through the alternative solutions by using decision-making guidelines. This is achieved by first considering whether there are any solutions we can immediately discard (initial selection).

to gain a sense of the range of options available (grouping solutions). Finally, the client chooses two or three solutions they would like to try out and evaluates them in more depth (weighing the advantages and disadvantages).
Plan This step requires the client to create and then implement, or carry out, an action plan. The action plan should outline the step by step process the client will follow to transform their chosen solution/s into concrete action. Don't be afraid of asking the client to go into an exacting level of detail. It is important to break the plan down into small, achievable steps.

review the client's progress with carrying out their action plan. The purpose is to evaluate:
If they are underway with their plan Whether the plan is having the desired impact on
resolving the problem Whether any more needs to be done in relation to the problem Any areas of the client's problem solving skills that need to be fine tuned

power to make people change their minds about a topic, or allows them to really understand and accept your position as a valid one. Get Oriented:
Pick a topic you feel strongly about. It doesnt matter whether you agree with it, or disagree with it. Think of points on both sides of the issue - the pros and the cons of each topic. List some arguments from both sides and then think about how your audience feels about each of these.
1.

convincing information - you might have to change your mind and change your main idea as you discover facts that you were not aware of as you started thinking about the topic.
2.
Pay close attention to your audience. Think of what it believes in, and be prepared to discuss some of the points that would be most interesting to this group.
Once you considered both sides, and considered the audience, then you are ready to take one side. Believe that you are right, and prepare yourself well to defend your thoughts. You will need good research to do this!
information available to support your position. You will need facts, statistics, and reports from sources you and your audience can trust. Make sure that you study the other side as well as you study your side. You don't want any surprise facts that you can't defend to show up after you finish your paper!
Be very well informed about the issue you want to discuss. Issues have different dimensions there is always a social, a technical or scientific, an economic, or another type of intellectual aspect you will need to be aware of.
issue you are focusing on. Anticipate objections and be prepared to address them. Think of the points about this issue where there is common ground - where you can agree with the other side

Now You Can Start Writing Assume that you will have many different
opinions among your audience. Your readers will judge the strength of your arguments. Write your paper to convince them that your side makes the most sense.
Right in your introduction, establish credibility. Your readers need to know that you have studied the topic, that you are being open and fair-minded about it, and that you can understand their points of view. Here is a good place to address some of the points you have in common with the other side.

introduction. 4. Support your thesis with the 3 strongest arguments you can find. These will be the outline of your paper. 5. Back your arguments up with very strong, specific evidence:
Use facts and statistics Use examples Borrow power from experts give their
credentials, then cite their work Look for areas you and your opponents have in common. Your opponents need to feel that their ideas are important, that they are intelligent people. Think of the other side, explain their belief, and then find arguments that oppose this view.
