Falsos Positivos Modus Operandi (Alston, Gonzalez)

I.

The victim is selected and lured under false pretenses by a recruiter from a specific location to a remote location. II. The individual is killed soon after arrival by members of the military. III. The victim is commonly photographed wearing a guerrilla uniform, and holding a gun or grenade. IV. Killers are rewarded for the results against the guerillas. V. Victims are often buried anonymously in communal graves or bodies are disappeared to avoid families to claim their rights.

Modus Operandi I - Selection

Low income young men are selected on the outskirts of Bogot and then lure using a steady job. The victim accepts voluntarily walks towards his own dead. Perdomo believes she is playing with both father and son. Each killer shot twice. None of them knows for sure who kill her. She died without understanding, without being aware

Prejudice is used to easily reinforce and reproduce the plot in mass media. Officials including the president repeat the same version. Soldier confesses after his father is killed. Boots, grenades, uniforms were used in the scene. Pictures are printed.

Narrator says Juana Maria became a bag of bones. Metaphorically, her body has been emptied of meaning implying a need to be filled by perpetrators. Juana Maria lacks even of a single killer forcing the case to be unsolved. Her father is the only screaming at the scene she was not a criminal. Nobody believes in his words.
