What is Islam?

Islam - an Arabic word which literally means surrender or submission


Islam, as faith, means total and sincere surrender to God so that one can live in tranquility and peace. Peace ( Salam in Arabic, Shalom in Hebrew) is achieved through active obedience to the revealed commandments of God. Muslim one who surrender his or her will to God voluntarily.

ISLAM
Started thousand years ago before Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) was born It was Adam (S.A.W.) who first brought Islam to humanity God chose the final Prophet, Muhammad (S.A.W.), to come with the last testament referred to as Quran. 2 SECTS: 1. Sunni Islam- Believed Ali as the Prophet and Messenger of Allah 2. Shiites Islam- founded after the death of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.)

Teachings of Islam
Emphasizes the concept of MONOTHEISM Allah created the plants to serve the animals and created them both to serve the mankind The purpose why Allah created the mankind is to worship him through his direction. Allah accomplished this by choosing from among us the best people to be his prophets and messengers; each nation was given them to carry the message of Allah to the people

Lineage of the Prophets:

1. Jesus Christ- descendant of Jacob (Israel) which is grandson of Abraham 2. Prophet Mohammad- descendant of Ishmael which is son of Abraham
JESUS- the last Prophet sent to Israel family and recognized as the son of the God

He stated: (Injel) and call no man your father upon the earth; for one is your father which is in heaven (Matthew 23:9) The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. (Acts 17:24). Then He identified Jesus as the man He has appointed. (Acts 17:31) The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus. (Acts 3:13)

Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) The Trustworthy


Born in Makkah in the year 570 CE; died at year 632 CE (63 yrs.) and buried at city of Medina Son of Abdullah and Ameenah Became Prophet when he reached 40 yrs. Old and the 1st revelations of the holy book was revealed to him in Cave Hera Was the last and greatest Prophet sent to mankind predicted by the Injel (Bible) As it stated: And there came a fear on all; and they glorified God saying, that a great prophet is risen up among us; and that God has visited his people (St. Luke 7:16) OBEY GOD, OBEY THE MESSENGER. (Quran 4:59)

ALLAH

Deals with all the subjects which concern human beings consists of 114 chapters and is a single book Surah Yasin the heart of Quran
Surah Fatihah the mother of all Surahs Surah Al-Kauthar-- the shortest chapter (3 verses) Surah Al-Baqarah-- the longest chapter (286 verses)
