CNC Introduction
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines are automated milling devices that make industrial components without direct human assistance. They use coded instructions that are sent to an internal computer, which allows factories to fabricate parts accurately and quickly.

Elements of CNC Machine

A CNC machine consist of following 6 major elements:
i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. Input Device Machine Control Unit Machine Tool Driving System Feedback Devices Display Unit

Block diagram of CNC Machine

Use a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine Step 1-Start the software, open CNC program by going to Programs. Step2-Reference the machine once you are up, the 7017 error code is telling you that the machine needs to be referenced. Step-3 Select your tool, turn your mode dial to MDI (Manual DATA input), Press the POG key on the vertical keypad. Step4-Facing your piece, T4 (for tool #4) Enter, M6 (stands for tool index) Enter, Enter, after the second enter, this line should appear at the top of your screen under the "Program" title. Step 5-Press PRESS Start cycle.

How CNC Works

Controlled by G and M codesG commands often tell the control what kind of motion is wanted (e.g., rapid positioning, linear feed, circular feed, fixed cycle) or what offset value to use.

G00 Rapid move G01 Feed Rate move G02 Clockwise move G03 Counter Clockwise move G17 XY PLANEM G18 XZ PLANE G19 YZ PLANE

M01 Program Stop M02 End of Program M03 Spindle On Clockwise M04 Spindle On Counter Clockwise M05 Power off M06 Tool Change

Features of CNC Machinery

The tool or material moves automatically. Tools can operate in 1-6 axes. Larger machines have a machine control unit (MCU) which manages operations. using CNC machine tools than the average production efficiency can be improved 2 to 3 times. using CNC machine tools can improve the machining precision, stable product quality.

Advantages of CNC
i.
ii.

- Easier to program;
- Easy storage of existing programs;

iii. - Easy to change a program iv. - Avoids human errors v. - CNC machines are safe to operate

vi. -Modern design software allows the designer to simulate the manufacture of his/her idea. There is no need to make a prototype or a model. This saves time and money.
