Holy Quran - syllabus for life

The Holy Quran is a divine book for the guidance and privilege of
human beings

There are many ideologies thoughts and religions present in the world

The reason for the difference is a difference in perception about the

creation and existence of human beings
What is a human being?

Matter alone Matter with a soul

Life ends with death Life continues beyond
death
Life starts with birth Life starts before birth
Life is individualistic Life is social
In the view of the Quran

1) It introduced a human
2) Expressed the limits of a human and his reality
3) Presented the limits of guidance
4) Social aspects of life
5) Social system for human beings
The system of the Holy Quran

A life that is disciplined and organized is

capable of getting guidance and not
otherwise
A system is needed for this discipline
The system of Wilayat (guardianship) has
been introduced by the Holy Quran

Though the meaning of Imamat

and Wilayat are different as
wilayat is the foundation of
imamat these have become
synonymous
Wilayat remains unidentified

Even for those who consider Wilayat as

a bounty wilayat remains unidentified...
 Events early in Islam

Differences aroused between groups at

the advent of Islam transformed Wilayat
into a debatable subject.
 Wilayat as a system

The Infallibles (AS) presented wilayat

as a system and this was not accepted.
Hadith of the golden chain Imam Reza
(AS)
My father, Musa bin Ja‘far, narrated to me from his father, Ja‘far bin
Muhammad, who narrated from his father, Muhammad bin ‘Ali, who
narrated from his father, ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn, who narrated from his
father, al-Husayn bin ‘Ali, who narrated from his father, ‘Ali bin Abi
Tâlib, who said, I heard the Prophet (s.a.w.) saying, “I heard Jibrail
saying, ‘The Almighty Allâh said, “I surely am the God besides
whom there is no god, so worship Me. Whoever comes with the
testimony of tawhid sincerely, he has surely entered My castle; and
whoever enters My castle, he shall be protected from My
chastisement.
The Hadith of the Golden chain

Then the Imam added that this salvation

is guaranteed “with its conditions; and I
am one of its conditions.”

---Imamat is the name of dignity for
Muslims

Praise be to Allah (SWT), who blessed

us to be with those who are attached
to the "Wilayat" of Ameerul Momineen
(AS) and all other Imams (AS)
"Any person who is not convinced
with the concept of Wali E
Faqeeh (The gaurdianship of a
jurist) in my eyes he has not at all
had the taste of fiqh"

Five foundation pillars of Islam

1) Salaat (Prayers)
2) Saum (fasting)
3) Hajj (pilgrimage)
4) Zakat (taxes)
5) Wilayat (gaurdianship)

 Starting from tauheed until the
last subject of Islam everything
has the temperament of "Wilayat"
on it.
The emphasis given to wilayat is not
found for anything else.
The Declaration of Wilayat

َ ْ ‫ل إ ِل َي‬ َ ْ ‫غ‬ّ ‫ل‬َ ‫ب‬ ُ

O Messenger deliver what has
been revealed to you from your And if you do it not then you
sustainer. have not delivered the messages

The prophet (AS) worked very hard at

delivering the message of Allah

Perhaps you will kill yourself with greif
Thus it is not needed for the prophet to exert
himself so much
The Quran is actually addressing
us in 5:67
It is telling us that if we do not
accomplish the task of wilayat it is as
though the purpose of Prophethood does
not get accomplished.
Thus the prophet was asked to do
the job on the day of Ghadeer by
virtue of which the religion will
become immortal
The prophet presents to us the fortress
of religion that is the "system of
wilayat"
An example

As an example if you are asked to deposit money in a bank and drop

it off at the counter without taking a receipt it is as though you did not
deliver the money at all.

These twenty three years of propagation of religion, that the prophet

did was now to be handed over in someone's custody.

It is important to realize that over here one personality is not handing

over things to another personality.
The enemies

They hoped to demolish the religion from the very

beginning
They did everything possible to demolish it
They tried their utmost
If they did not do something it is because they were
incapable of it
Despair of the enemies

This is different from defeat

They put sanctions on the prophet in Shaibe Abu Talib
They did atrocities to his companions
They fought the battle of Badr and lost
They kept this up for twenty three years
The religion and its enemies spread simultaneously
Foolishness of the enemies

They felt that if the personality of the

Prophet is eradicated then religion will
perish.
 Surely you shall die and they (too)
surely die 39:30

The enemies felt content on hearing this

verse that stated the prophet would
leave this world some day
Why did the enemies despair

They had hoped that once the prophet died the religion would also die
The announcement of "wilayat" made them loose all hopes of
demolishing this religion.
Allah established the religion and made the Prophet as its gaurdian,
propagator and governor, dud did not make the religion dependent on
the personality of Holy Prophet (AS).

Allah in fact made the axis of this religion a system, and today this
religion got that system.

Any school or ideology that gets a system cannot perish.

Any school or ideolgy with a system

cannot perish
it cannot be demolished
it has a fortress around it

Thus it is said in traditions that

Wilayat of Ali Ibn Abu Talib is a fortress, and one

who enters this fortress is protected from wrath.

This day have I perfected for you your
religion and completed My favor on
you and chosen for you Islam as a
religion
Sura Maida Ayat 3
So fear them not and fear me

Allah is telling the prophet not to be afraid

What was the fear of the prophet?
What was the fear of the prophet?

The incident of Ghadeer happened after hajj

These were the companions of the prophet not commoners
They are returning from Hajj after which their sins are forgiven
These were religious people
Why would the prophet be afraid of these religious people?

Remember the incident of Moosa and the magicians

The magicians threw their ropes
Moosa threw his staff
They did magic he did a miracle
Imam Ali in the nahjul balagha clarifies this
Moosa feared that the common people may misconstrue this
If the level of the ordinary people is not elevated
They will be unable to differentiate illusion from magic
What was the fear of the prophet?

On ghadeer the prophet was

presenting the axis of the religion
the temperament and the heart of the religion
the completion of the religion
that which will despair the enemies
the most important element of religion

The fear of the prophet was that the people may take the "Wilayat"
for something else. He feared the consequences of this confusion.
Bakhin Bakhin

This means Wow

or Wah Wah (in Urdu)

Everyone said bakhin bakhin on this day 18th Zilhajj 10 AH

On Safar 28th 11 AH the situation changed completely

Lady Fatima (AS) knocked on the doors of everyone she just asked them to
come out and state the tradition of Ghadeer

All of them replied our memories are weak we don't remember

THIS IS THE OPPRESSION OF THE RELIGION AND THE

OPPRESSION OF THE WALI
 The Fear of the Prophet
comes true

this day the Lady is knocking on the
doors and the people of Medina do not
come out, and another day when the
people are called to set fire to the door
of the lady then all come out
The Ummah Distances from Wilayat

Wilayat is a divine system for the guidance of Humanity.

Wilayat is a system made by Allah for the governance of

the Ummah until the day of judgment.

The purpose of Ashura was to get the ummat back toward

the axis of wilayat.
The system changes

Wilayat (Gaurdianship)

Khilafat (Caliphate)

TO

Mulukiyat (Kingship)
 Wilayat

The system of Wilayat is there till

doomsday
It is not suspended by the demise of the
prophet
It is not suspended by the occultation of
the infallible
We are not permitted to turn our
face away from Wilayat either
due to the demise of the Prophet
nor due to occultation of the
Infallible

THE TEST OF WILAYAT

This is a hard test and most of the

followers will run away when the actual
time for the test comes
The Current day situation

The Amr Ibn Aas of our time come on

the pulpits and present the verses of the
Quran in a distorted form, they present
traditions similarly.
The 'followers' of wilayat don't take
much time to get misled.
 Any community which gets
deceived when the Quran is raised
on spearheads will have to one
day witness the head of their
'Wali' on the spearhead
