PG PAKIS BARU

PG Pakis Baru has been in existence since 1879 and was originally run by orang belander (NV Pabriek Gula Pakkies Redjo Agung). In 1959 ownership transferred from Indonesian Chinese owners to PT BAPIPPUNDIP who ran it till 1997 when the factory closed down due to poor cane supply The Samsuddin family bought the factory and assets in November 2000. In 2007/2008 they formed PT Lajuperdana Indah which is now part of Indofood Agribusiness In 2008 the factory was renovated and trial run. The trials were not successful and the new equipment required further modification. In late 2008 and early 2009 modifications were made and the factory has now been proof run up to 3000 tonnes of cane per day. Recoveries and rendement are now competitive with the two adjacent factories.

Cane is mainly sourced from farmers in the Pati, Jepara, Kudus, Rembang areas. Cane should be fresh, free of trash and tops with no roots and or soil. All cane is tested upon entry to the factory and the farmerss payment are reflected on the calculated rendement from this test. Operations during 2009 tested the market for cane. Although some 2500 hectares of farmers were signed up to the KKP programme only 970 hectares ended up being delivered to the factory. The reasons for the shortfall were due to some farmers not wishing to repay their loan and delivering their cane to other factories, and also the late start to the crop which accounted for 600 hectares. Non Fasilitas cane delivered was 36110.8 tonnes and swing cane 21010 tonnes these sources accounted for another 880 hectares. In 2010 we estimate that 3070 hectares will be included in the KKP scheme with a further 1000 hectares of Non Facilities cane. This will provide an estimated 250,000 tonnes of cane. There will also be 130 ha of our own cane. Part of the Agricultural strategy is to increase land under rental agreement to secure more good quality cane for the factory. At present 500 hectares are rented and we wish to increase to 1000 hectares over the next two years

The factory is capable of milling 2700 3000 TCD. Cane supply averaged 2200 2500 TCD during the 2009 milling season. It appears that the 2010 milling season will most likely commence on June 1st as most of the May cane has been sold for seed. A thorough review of areas in March will determine the start up date

Tolling of raw sugar will probably commence on April 1st. Work has started on the boiler coal firing project, however there are delays in the issuing of tenders for the bagasse store and water Demin. Plant which may delay this start up date. There are plans to toll up to 30,000 tonnes of raw sugar adding a potential 1$ million to the net revenue.
The diesel generator will have to be used during crop due to a shortfall in turbine generating capacity. This will be rectified once the turbine for the chopper shredder has been sourced. A quote is under evaluation (Purchasing). Due to long lead times this unit will only be available for installation at the end of the year The anticipated sugar production from cane is 18,125 tonnes and sugar tolling will result in a production of 27,600 tonnes giving a total of 45,725 tonnes.
