CRAG Install Guidelines

The PCG Group will send the CRAG Requests to DBA_MID1. Get approval from Level-2. The DBA_MID2 will review the CRAG and forward to DBA_MID1. The DBA_MID1 should execute the CRAG installs MID1 co-ordinates with PCG during installation Send log files to PCG for verification

The MID1 should create a directory /var/oraexp/$SID/CRs/CRAG # for each of the CRAG. The scripts that are written by DBAs to support the CRAGS, logs, spools should be kept here for the particular CRAG. These include scripts to make backup of tables, export parameter files any grant statements Under the CRAG# directory, there should be a README.TXT file that has any special instructions and the name of the DBA who executed the CRAG in each systems (test/prod).

Under the same directory, there should be a list of invalids before and after the CRAG install is done. Once the CRAG install is done and invalids are recompiled, the DBA should notify the PCG group any new invalid objects as a result of CRAG install. Many times, these are expected to go away as result of code install they do after DDL installs, but still the list of new invalids must be brought to their attention immediately.

CRAG Install Guidelines Nothing should be run without having a script. For example, if you are creating a backup of a table, create a sql file and run the script. If you are exporting a table or schema, create parameter file and then execute the par file.

CRAG Install Guidelines All the sqls should create a spool file/log file that can be referenced in the future if there are questions. Same applies to export/import as well.

The MID2 should attend the Weekly CRAG Review meeting and provide necessary information to MID1/other team members after the meeting. The blackboard by the DBA area CRAG install notes should be updated accordingly.

The export of the table should be made prior to alter table, dropping table, truncating table or last data changes. The exporting of the schema should be made prior to dropping the schema.

Once the DBA_MID2 is notified for CRAG install requests, we will complete the requests within 24 hrs during normal weekdays. For Production moves, the CRAG should also have Mattel CR # stating the start-time and end-time.
