By 2020, employers worldwide could face a shortage of 85 million high and medium-skilled workers U.S. Dept. of Commerce estimates that Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) jobs will grow by 17% between 2008-2018. Advertised job openings in large MSAs require more education than all existing jobs, and more education than the average adult has attained (Brookings, 2012)
