The document discusses SAP Project Systems (SAP PS), which is used to manage large-scale projects. It describes how SAP PS structures projects using work breakdown structures, networks of activities, and work centers. It provides an overview of the project lifecycle in SAP PS, from planning and budgeting to execution, monitoring, and closing. It also lists some key transaction codes and tables used in SAP PS.

Yugandhar Panga CSC Confidential - 2 Agenda SAP Project System (SAP PS) powers the worlds largest and most important projects. SAP PS is used to build buildings, construct huge refineries, turnaround plants, manage information system projects and coordinate a vast range of other large scale projects. Project managers and financial analysts need to make sure the project is executed on time and on budget. The executives use the PS module in SAP R/3 to ensure that resources and funds are put to use in the right ways at the right times. Introduction: CSC Confidential - 3 The building blocks of SAP Project System At the highest level of SAP PS, projects are defined and then structured into an organizational form that maps to the specific project. Work Breakdown Structure The project is first broken down into work breakdown structures (WBS) which map to specific project deliverables. Networks Each WBS can then be broken down into networks of activities. A network can be thought of as a list of tasks organized into a process flow with specific timing. Activities Activities are the key tasks to be completed. These activities map to internal activities, external activities, cost activities and materials components. Work Centers Internal activities are assigned to work centers (resources) to be completed.

SAP Project System ,There are four sets of dates on all levels of a project (i.e. on WBS elements, networks and activities): The Basic dates are planned manually but will act as constraints for network scheduling. Scheduled dates are determined by automated network scheduling and in network activities these are called earliest and latest dates. Whereas Forecast dates are another set of dates, which are used as ongoing comparisons throughout the project. The actual dates are set in the project execution phase, e.g. by entering actual dates for WBS elements in the project planning board or by confirmation of network activities.
