Cedarapids Triple Shaft Screen Features & Benefits

Cedarapids/ElJay Triple Shaft Screen
The
Originator
and The
Innovator

General
Screening
Considerations
Generally speaking,
the crusher breaks
the material, but the
screen sorts the
material to make the
specification.
Gradation versus Specification
Backbone of the Crushing Circuit:
In the majority of crushing circuits, screening is
usually the bottleneck not the crushing.

Proper screening is so important to the circuit,
it is essential to cover the topic when
discussing crushers.

Screening Theory
Never Cut Corners on Screening
The vibrating screen is the cash register in
any operation. This is not a unit machine in the
circuit that can afford to be undersized.
Determination of the critical deck must be
accomplished with consideration given to future
markets. Custom blending and tighter
aggregate specifications may require detailed
review of product chute design. This type of
design may affect the types and heights of
structures.

Screening Theory
Dont Limit your future:
Make your crushers the
bottleneck of your plant!!
Screening Theory
PRIMARY FACTORS:
STRATIFICATION
The process of large size particles rising to the
top of the vibrating material bed while the
smaller size particles fall through the voids to
find their way to the screen surface opening
SEPARATION
The process of particles presenting themselves to
the screen surface openings passing through the
opening if smaller and being rejected if larger than
the opening.

Screening Theory
Stratification must occur before
Separation can occur!!

Two Styles of Screens in the Aggregate
Industry

1. Inclined/Sloped Screens
Low stroke, low G-force
Gravity propels material down the screen

2. Horizontal Screens
Large stroke, high G-force
Screen movement propels material down the
screen

The lengthened part of the stroke
propels the material down the
length of the screen.

The Vertical Zone part of the
stroke has little fore/aft movement
to allow efficient passage of
material
