Laboratory diagnosis
Sample:stool, urine, throat, conjuctival,
or rectal swab.
Virus isolation in human cell culture,
such as Hep-2,HeLa cell lines.
Identified: Fluorescent antibody or CF,
HI, and Nt test

Papillomavirus
> 70 distinct human papillomavirus (HPV)
types.
Polyomavirus
SV 40 contaminated live and killed
poliovirus vaccines that had been grown in
monkey cells unknowingly infected with
SV40.
SV40 DNA detected in several several
types of human tumor, including brain
tumor.
Structure and composition
Papillomavirus
Cause: skin warts, plantar warts, flat warts,
genital condylonmas, laryngeal papillomas in
human.
HPV :
- sexually transmitted genital lesions,
- premalignant and malignant disease of
vulva, cervix, penis and anus.
- genital condylomas, dysplasia to
invasive cervical cancer (HPV type 16, 18,
and 11,31, 33, 35,45).
- Laryngeal papilloma in children: HPV 6, 11

Genital HPV infection is a Sexually Transmitted Disease that is
caused by human papillomavirus (HPV).
Nearly all cervical cancers (99,7%) are directly linked to previous
infection with one ore more of the oncogenic (cancer inducing)
types of HPV (Judson 1992; Walboomers et al 1999).
85% of cervical cancers are related to only 4 types of
HPV(16,18,31,and 45).
Cervical cancer was once of the number one or two cause of death
from cancer in women.
Screening test can find changes in cervical cells (dysplasia) before
cancer develops.
Removing cell that have dysplasia can prevent cervical cancer.
If left untreated, it can lead to cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer can be cured if its found at an early stage.
HPV Infection
There is not much information and epidemiology
study about HPV infection in Indonesia.

Most women are still unfamiliar with HPV and are
understandably uncertain of ramification of the
diagnosis.

Understanding the epidemiology of cervical HPV
infection is an important first step to toward the
development of strategies for preventing genital HPV
disease and ultimately, cervical cancer.

Risk Factor:
- Sexual activity (<20 years)
- Multiple sexual partners
- Exposure to STD
- Mother and sister with cervical cancer
- Smoking
- Immunosupression: HIV/AIDS
Chronic corticosteroid use
(asthma/lupus)
