See India emerge as the leader in the world
market for silk

Make continuous efforts in research and
development and technology transfer.

Improve productivity in all stages of silk
production.

Central Silk Board is the nodal agency of Government of
India for overall development (R&D) of sericulture in the
country

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
MAIN RESEARCH INSTITUTES

Central Seri cultural Research and Training Institute - Mysore(Karnataka)
I. Central Seri cultural Research and Training Institutes (CSR&TI)-
Berhampore (W. B)
II. Central Seri cultural Germplasm Resources Centre at
Hosur(Tamilnadu)
III. Silkworm Seed Technological laboratory at Kodathi, Bangalore.
IV. Seri Bio-technology Research Laboratory at Kodathi Bangalore.

The central silk board has been fruitfully utilizing the
information technology, in various operation of the
organization from past 16 years.

Finance is a
part of any
organization.
Inefficient
financial
management
paralyses the
activity of the
firm.
Functions of finance and accounts
departments:
Budgeting.
Profit estimating
Business planning
Investment management
Dealing with royalty matters
Preparation of final accounts
Training is a systematic process by which employees learn silks,
knowledge, abilities or attitudes to further organization and
personal goals.
Major technological breakthroughs in mulberry varieties,
silkworm races and processing equipments.
Ability and infrastructure for Capacity building through
appropriate training initiatives for the development of
trained manpower for tribal farmers, reelers,
departmental officials, NGOs, Bankers etc.

WEAKNESSES:
Ageing Employees pool with an average age of 46 yrs. as
there has been no fresh recruitment since 1996
Lack of promotional avenues for different cadres resulting in
low motivational levels
The stringent State laws on sericulture are a serious
impediment to bring effective reforms in the silk sector.

Stagnant global raw silk production opens up new
opportunities for CSB to put in place a plan to expand
sericulture activities in India in order to meet the
requirement of both domestic & international markets.
There is tremendous scope for product diversification &
by-product utilization which needs to be tapped.

The domestic raw silk prices are largely dictated by the
international silk prices.
This sector like agriculture is largely dependent on the rainfall
and soil conditions. Failure of rains have led to uprooting of
thousands of acres of mulberry gardens

Initiating measures for standardization and
quality control of silk and silk products
Improving the marketing of raw silk
The collection of statistics
Rationalization of marketing and stabilization
of prices of silk cocoons and raw silk
It is suggested to diversify its activities being
financial resources are ample
Focus on increasing the percentage earning
of silk exports of India
Focus on to the market demand and work on
its improvement
Improve upon social cost benefits

This study programmed has created a sense of practical exposure in my
mind as to what actually an organization is. After the researcher has felt empower with
confidence to understand different management concepts in a pragmatic manager.
LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Importance of different management functions such as planning, organizing,
staffing, directing and controlling.

Project report has also helped me in knowing the importance of team effort
when compared to individual effort in an organization.

By and large it was a fruitful a useful experience of undergoing project at
BANGALORE as I could learn the way in which an organization of its size actually
functioned.

By studying the report it can be concluded that
the Central Silk Board is completely a Non Profit
Organization which is striving to enhance the
sericulture industry. The funds for the board are
drawn from the Ministry of Textiles, Government of
India every year.

China is the leading producer of silk & India
is at the second place. CSB provides the logo &
assurance of Silk Mark for the producers of quality
silk through Silk Mark Organization of India.
The Central Silk Board is only committed
towards production of quality silkworm seeds &
enhances the production of International Standard
Quality silk in India.
