Evoluted Data Center

With focus on value creation we have built our

business model on Efficiency meaning simply
how to achieve the best value from the same
resources and effort or how to achieve the
goal with the least possible overall
expenditure of resources and effort.

This is how we compete and
make a real difference for our partners.
The Right Thing, The Right Way
Efficient control and use of the resources in
our hands is the real challenge and makes
the real difference.
There are several ways to go from problem to
solution but there is only one best way and it
makes the difference.

Time cannot be recycled, it cannot be sold
second-hand. Time and efficiency are today
the
most mission critical factors of success.

Data Center Efficiency Metrics: PUE and DCiE
Many Data Center have a PUE higher
than 3
With a proper design PUE=1,6 can be
reached
Data Centers Needs
Data Centers are a critical element regarding
service continuity and represent one of the
elements with the highest
energy consumption within the electrical
chain.

Improving the efficiency in cooling system is a
crucial point in order to minimize the PUE
rating of the Data Center.
The occupancy of a Data center
increases in a period of time and needs
an infrastructure that is flexible and
efficient in all the working conditions

Compatibility with a Raised Access Floor

Active Distribution - Active Floor
This solution allows cooling to be optimized in all
operating conditions avoiding the creation of hot spots in
particularly critical areas and at the same time always
ensuring that the minimum amount of power is absorbed
for the cooling Process. This solution is certified by TUV
able to cool upto 40 kW/rack

Active Distribution - Active Floor
Cool Pool is created by physically separating the hot and
cold air flows within the Data Center.
This configuration prevents the cold and
hot air mixing, avoiding the air re cycling of air
in the upper section of the server, guaranteeing
homogeneous air flow at the suction section of
the server.

This compartmentalization can be achieved by
closing the lateral access doors and using a
transparent roof fixed on top of the racks

Cool Pool
Combining the Cool Pool with the AFPS
system guarantees the direct
management of the air flow within the
cold aisle and optimizing it depending on
the variation in load.

The Cool Pool can be integrated with
the most common anti-incendiary
devices available on the market.

The use of access doors introduces a
further level of safety in terms of access
control for co-location Data Centers.

Cool Pool
Automatic Floor Pressurization System

Management of airflow based on pressure available
under the raised floor.
Pressurization of the modular access floor is an
important aspect in ensuring efficient operation of
the cooling system for the lifetime of the room and
for any changes it may be subject to over time.
Automatic Floor Pressurization
System

This solution, modulating automatically the fan
speed, permits to adequate the airflow and the
fan power consumption to the real situation of
the room.
N ACUs running at 50% flow rate.
N/2 ACUs running at 100% flow rate.
Close Control Units

Close Control units allow high levels of energy efficiency
which have been certified by several international
bodies (MEPS, TV, among others). This leads to
Cooling Load Factor (CLF) values and PUE which are
much lower than the average values usually considered
appropriate for the design of a new generation Data
Center.

The integration with High Density Cooling Solutions
permits to separate cooling system from the rack zone
and to obtain higher efficiency and lower footprint if
compared to in-row systems.
Discharge Temperature Control / Optimized parameters
Discharge Temperature Control applied
on Chilled Water units permits:
Optimize the Cold Aisle Temperature
Increase the chilled water temperatures
Increase the Efficiency of the Chiller
Reduce the plant energy Consumption
Increase the specific Cooling Capacity
of CRAC units
Increase dramatically the number of
hours in Free Cooling mode
Brushless electronically commutated
fans implemented on Leonardo units
give great benefits in terms of:
High Efficiency
Very high reliability (brushless)
High performance with low noise
Starting current lower than nominal
current
Continuous fan speed regulation from
the microprocessor

Electronic Commutation Fans
Benefits:
1. Fan Power Consumption reduction
2. Dynamic management of the room conditions
3. Monitoring of the room needs
4. Airflow management during all the room life cycle
Automatic Floor Pressurization System AFPS
Active Stand-By
The stand by units usually present in
mission critical systems integrated
with AFPS can be switched on in
order to maximize the efficiency of
the system
Active Stand By -Tandem Solutions
Tandem Compressors maximizes
the efficiency at partial load and
matched with AFPS and Active
Stand by maximizes the PUE of the
system.
The secrets to good floor realization are:

A sufficiently deep floor void (600mm
suggested for High Density Areas)
A well-sealed floor
Floor grilles with volume adjustment
The correct selections and numbers of
distribution elements to match the load

Raised Floor - Best Practice

The ever increasing requirement
for reliability of the Mission Critical
installations has led to the
necessity for water chilled units
with integrated double circuit and
double power supply.
Reliability
Aquaflair Chillers
Integration with the system of the
Aquaflair chillers allows extremely high
levels of energy efficiency to be obtained
together with reliability, precision and
reduced acoustic impact.
Equipping the chillers with technology
such as indirect Free Cooling, electronic
expansion valves, double screw or oil
free multicompressors operating in
tandem leads to a greater COP even
during partialization of the cooling
capacity.
intelligent free-cooling vs traditional
free-cooling
Intelligent free-cooling
Master Control
Management of the whole system
allows energy consumption to be
optimized and strategies of integrated
control.
Uniflair Master Control is a control and
supervision system of the perimeter
units, the Active Floor and the
chillers.
Each single element optimizes its
own operating parameters depending
on the actual load of the server.
Optimized Management
In chilled water systems the temperature
of the water varies dynamically in such a
way as to minimize compressor
consumption and the use of free-cooling,
maintaining the desired temperature
within the room.
