Explored the influence of optical amplifiers on all-optical OFDM.
4 PLANNED ACTIVITIES FOR THIS YEAR( AS PER LAST PRESENTATION) 5 Generation of OFDM using AWG and interferometer.
Bi-directional all-optical OFDM.
Hardware implementation.
WORK DONE FROM FEBRUARY-JUNE 14 Designed and simulated all-optical OFDM using 3dB couplers(extended version of previous work). Designed 4-channel system for different data rates 40Gbps and 100Gbps. The signal power of the source, extinction ratio of optical modulator, dispersion parameter and responsivity of the detector were optimised to achieve a min SNR of 20dB and min BER of 10 -9 . Extended the same system for 8-channel all-optical OFDM using fourier, hartley and cosine transforms.
Generated all-optical OFDM using AWG. Designed and simulated unidirectional and bi-directional 8-channel system .
6 BLOCK DIAGRAM OF OPTIMISED 4-CHANNEL ALL-OPTICAL OFDM 7 PERFORMANCE GRAPH OF OPTIMISED 4-CHANNEL SYSTEM 8 COMPLEX ALL-OPTICAL OFDM(8-CHANNEL) 9 REAL ALL-OPTICAL OFDM (HARTLEY) 10 REAL ALL-OPTICAL OFDM(COSINE TRANSFORM) 11 DETECTED SPECTRUMS 12 COMPARISON OF THE 8-CHANNEL OPTIMISED SYSTEM The complex all-optical OFDM achieved a minimum BER of 10 -12 to 10 -7
from 10 to 100km.
The real all-optical OFDM using Hartley Transform achieved a minimum BER of 10 -10 to 10 -7 for the same distance
The real all-optical OFDM using Cosine Transform achieved a minimum BER of 10 -9 to 10 -7 for the same distance.
17 DETECTED SPECTRUM OF TWO CHANNELS 18 CONTD.. The system achieved a min BER of 10 -9 for 20km.
