What we can do better:
We can include videos of different animals, while dogs and cats are extremely cute, if
we include a wider variety of animals we can potentially expand our audience.

What they are doing well (on the Facebook and Twitter page) :
They are constantly posting, sharing, tweeting and retweeting through out the day so their page is
always popping up.
What we can do better:
While the Twitter page includes a lot of links and videos, it could also have more actual information on
it. Again it could include different animals and perhaps more fun facts about animals or updates on
popular animals.

Animal Planet
About:
Animal Planet is a very well known television channel that educates and
informs about the wonders of different animals and species and how they
interact with each other and their survival techniques.
About YouTube Page:
887,468 subscribers

Top videos are gory and violent

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9xVAkQmWi4
Piranha Devours a Duck
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ea6DfhkY53c
What they are doing well:
Frequently posting, they seem to know what people want to see (their top
videos being pretty heavy content)
What we can do better:
Our channel should find a better balance between cute/funny videos and
entertaining videos. Our videos will steer away from the violent content
and focus more on the better side of animals.

What they are doing well:
They are doing a great job of advertising and promoting through social
media, they post constantly and create a good mixture of funny and
exciting
What we can do better:
Though Animal Planet is known for its extreme and dramatic shows, it may
be beneficial to include some videos and pictures that are a little toned
down which could expand its viewers and subscribers.

What they do well:
Their videos are very entertaining and cute, any animal lover would be interested in their content. Even someone who isnt obsessed with
animals would still find these videos amazing and unique.
What we can do better:
One major problem they have is that they do not post frequently enough on any of their social media pages.
We can be more consistent and steady with our posts on all our social media outlets.

Mostly posts the links to the YouTube videos, occasionally retweets or posts links to pictures.

What they do well:
Post very cute, funny, and entertaining videos and pictures on their social media outlets.
What we can do better:
Though their content is good, they need to be more consistent with their posts and post more frequently.
One thing that is really awesome and eye catching is when these pages post fun facts or articles on things you didnt know
about a specific breed or species. This not only expands the audience but creates a more interesting and fulfilling social
media page.

Earth Unplugged
What they are doing well:
Their particular content is very educational and much more informative than the other channels that are
presented.
Their videos are different and offer interesting information that one would not normally think of
What we can do better:
Channel is missing out on a very good opportunity. While they post new YouTube videos fairly frequently and
have a high number of subscribers, their lack of attention towards their other media sites are not allowing
them to reach their full potential. This would be a perfect opportunity to post fun facts on twitter or funny
Earth memes or beautiful pictures on Facebook. If they put more effort into these other social media outlets
they could greatly expand their viewers and followers.

Non-profit organization, something thats for a good cause generally attracts people to it
What we can do better:

things like that could expand the amount of followers they have on all their social media sites

What we can do to ensure a successful
launch
We need to look at the more successful organizations and follow their lead. For example: what they post, how
often they post, what social media outlet they use the most, etc.
One thing that seems to be very important and effective is consistently posting
We should frequently be posting new material whether its a picture, video, meme, gif, etc.
We shouldnt just focus on one social media site, but rather we need to frequently post new material to all of them
Another important tactic is to add variety
If we include other animals, more exotic animals, it could help keep our audience more interested as opposed to just
posting about dogs and cats (not that they arent adorable)
Example pages: Animal Planet, Earth Unplugged, Big Cat Rescue
We must keep up to date with social media trends
Examples: hashtags such as throw back Thursdays, man crush Mondays
We could use these trends and incorporate them into our material. This can create buzz and popularity among social
media sites
#vivalapetrevolution
For Something Fuzzy it might also be beneficial to work with, promote, advertise, or sponsor different
animal charities.
This could help us gain a lot of positive attention and followers
We need to provide a good mixture of posts between all of the social media outlets, however it would be
helpful and more beneficial if there was a unique thing about each outlet.
Examples: facts on Twitter, pictures on Instagram, memes and gifs on Facebook, videos on YouTube
Ideal Locations for Content
Pictures X X X X
Videos* X X
Fun facts/jokes X
Memes X X X
Gifs X
Contests/sweepstakes X X
Charity promotions X X X
Updates/promoting X X X
DIY projects X
Products/merchandise X X X
*YouTube would also be an ideal location for videos. If and when we do post videos on
YouTube, we should post the links to Facebook and Twitter to expand the number of viewers
Facebook:
Facebook should include pictures, videos, memes, gifs,
contest sweepstakes, charity promotions,
updates/promotions, and products/merchandise
As for videos, people seem to love anything involving animals
whether they are doing something cute, funny, or silly
For example: Petsami does compilations of cute or funny animals
Facebook is a good place for pictures and memes
The memes dont always have to be funny, sometimes they can
just be cute, motivational, or inspirational
Facebook is also the ideal place to promote a contest or
sweepstake because people can easily share links and
websites.
We could create a post that said something like, The first 20
people to like this post gets a
OR, Photo contest! Post your favorite picture of your pet with a
cute or funny caption and we will pick the best three. The winners
will receive
Another idea that might be very beneficial to gaining
followers is to support a charity and to constantly post
links, videos, and/or pictures for this charity
For example: ASPCA
http://www.aspca.org/
Aside from creating our own material to post, we should
constantly be liking, sharing, and commenting on other
videos, pictures, charities, contests, etc. We should use
our competing sites to our advantage.
As far as updates and promotions for our own social media
content, every time a picture or video is posted to one site,
we need to post a link to this material on our other sites. Or if
we have something coming up or coming out we should
constantly be advertising it and posting about it on our social
media outlets
With products and merchandise it doesnt always have to be
from us but rather good products or all pet/animal lovers

ment/home.xhtml?wec-
appid=PEDM_WEBSHOP_TR&page=D3580E862FED425A82

Twitter:
Twitter should include pictures, fun facts/jokes, contests/sweepstakes, charity promotions,
updates/ promotions, products/merchandise
Multiple times a day we should tweet something new in order for our handle to constantly come up
Fun facts and jokes are ideal for Twitter because people enjoy them, find them entertaining, and they are a
quick and easy thing to post
Pictures and videos can also be posted to Twitter however, this is not the ideal spot for them because for
videos you have to click a link that takes you to another website
One thing that is important to remember is we should not only be posting about our material,
but we should be posting and retweeting about other pages material whether its a funny
tweet or a link to an article
Another thing that we can use to our advantage is the power to tweet at people. If someone
posts a cute picture of their pet or another page posts a video, not only can we retweet and
share this but we can tweet at them which will also help our handle to constantly be on top
of the twitter feed
Hashtags are also a very big, very useful part of twitter. When you use hashtags you are
basically acknowledging a trend and joining that trend which could greatly expand our
followers
Example
Instagram:
Instagram should include pictures, videos, memes, charity promotions, and
updates/promotions
Pictures and memes are perfect for Instagram as well as quick videos
Pictures dont always have to be memes but rather a picture with a cute or funny caption
Instagram is another great place for hashtags and we should also follow common social
media trends which will allow us to penetrate the more popular side of this social media
outlet
#mondays #lazy #vivalapetrevolution
Example
Pinterest
There is an endless number of possibilities on Pinterest. There are
dozens of different categories that we could add to with our material.
Pictures and Memes
Funny, cute
Include all animals, the variety is endless on Pinterest
Memes are very popular on Pinterest
Animal costumes
Cute and funny costumes for your pet
Could also include animal costumes for people
DIY projects
Pet projects such as beds, cushions, houses, blankets, water and food bowls, etc.
Pet recipes-this includes things like dog treats, homemade cat food, etc.
Pet Activities
These are activities more for children but they are fun, educational activities that
utilizes the appeal of animals to help children learn.
We can create a Something Fuzzy board where we can post and pin
different material from all different categories. People will be able to
follow our boards or re-pin something from our board
