CURRICULUM PLANNING
2014-2015
by Ms. Layda
OVERVIEW:
In the elementary computer lab curriculum there is an evolving process based on available technology, the level
of use within the school and the grade level involved. The school curriculum will help them form a different
attitude toward computers and hopefully come to see them as a useful tool they will have throughout their lives.
They will be able to identify the parts of a computer and operate the keys necessary to use the computer as a
learning tool. Also, they will begin using computer applications for simple age-appropriate tasks. At the same
time they will begin to discuss ethical computer use. They should understand and demonstrate proper etiquette,
and body position when using computers.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
Due to the increasing demand in computer technology skills applied in day-to-day activities, the goal
of this course is to develop the basic knowledge and competencies. Among those skills the students
will:
1. Use and apply appropriate computer terminology.
2. Learn about operating systems, specifically Windows 7.
3. Identify basic computer programs such as Paint, Acrobat Reader and Office.
4. Keyboarding.
5. Introduction to coding.
INTRODUCTION: Building on established computer skills, this level looks into operating systems,
particularly Windows 7. It is focused on increasing the speed in regular work at a PC by being familiarized with
Windows and other basic programs.
