What is an idiom ????
An idiom is a phrase or sentence

A snake in the grass : a secret enemy
e.g. I thought she was my friend until she
betrayed me. Only than I did know that she
was a snake in the grass.
Apple of the eye : someone dearly loved
e.g. He is the apple of his mothers eye.

From A to Z : from the beginning to the end.
e.g. She studied the subject from A to Z.
Once in a blue moon : very rarely.
e.g. I go to the cinema once in a blue moon.
Now and then : from time to time
e.g. We do visit the library now and then.
With flying colours : to be very successful; to do
very well
e.g. She passed the examinations with flying
colours. Her parents were very proud of her.
To lend a hand : to help
e.g. My car has broken down. Can you lend
me a hand?
To rain cats and dogs : rain very heavily
