THEORY EMPHASIS AND CONTRIBUTION
Need hierarchy Individuals have needs and act in a manner to satisfy
them. There is a priority in needs.
Achievement
Motivation
A major portion of an employees performance can be
explained by the intensity of the need or achievements
is prominent among successful executives.
Motivator hygiene Needs are prime motivators. Certain factors motivate
employees other factors do not.
!"uity Individuals compare their inputs and outcomes #ith
those of other individuals.
!xpectancy Individuals place certain values on #or$ related
re#ards. They also ma$e conscious estimates of effort%
performance%re#ard relationships.
&einforcement 'esired behavior can be increased and undesirable
behavior decreased by proper application of re#ard
and punishment.
(oal%setting )aving specific goals increase performance. 'ifferent
goals result in higher performance than easy goals.
