HISTORY
Developed by Chad Dyner.
In 2005 US patent office granted Dyner patent for
his product(HELIODISPLAY)
IO2 technology to commercialize Heliodisplay.
3
INTRODUCTION
An interactive free space display
developed by IO2 technologies.
Hi-Tech projector that display
pictures in the air.
It is a planar display i.e., 2D
Works as a free space touch screen
when connected to pc.
Eco-friendly, low power consuming
and various image and video formats.

HELIODISPLAY AND SCREEN PROJECTORS
5
Screen Projector
A screen projector
display in 2D.
A support structure(i.e.
projection screen) is used
for displaying a projected
image.
Heliodisplay
All video images can be seen in
3D.
No screen is required ,system
itself creates an invisible screen
in air.
BASIC PRINCIPLE OF HELIODISPLAY

It eject a water-based vapour curtain to project image
or moving objects.
It can be interfaced with pc or laptop
it is similar to a projector

MODELS
M1 (Fist Genaration)
M2 (Second Genaration)
M3 (Third Genaration)

M50
M100

10
M1 AND M2
The original M1 units produced by IO2 were advanced
prototypes and proof-of-concept.
M2 series is the second-generation mid-air projector with a
larger 30-inch diagonal (76cm) display area with 16.7 million
colours.
11
M2 have 2000:1 contrast ratio, higher image quality,
resolution, brighter and overall performance.
M2i version includes virtual touch screen capability.
A sensor inside the M2 identifies the movement of
the user's hand in the area of the projected image

12
M3 AND M30
M3 is similar to M2 with improved brightness and
clarity any more stable operation with an improved
tri-flow system.
M3 displays 16:9 widescreen ratios.
M30 have 30 as designating the diagonal screen
size.
13
M50 AND M100
14
M50 has a 50" diagonal image, equivalent to displaying
a life-size head-and shoulders person.
M100 has a 100" diagonal image, equivalent to
displaying a large full-body person .
ADVANTAGES
Device is light weight and can be converted into a
furniture.
Nothing is added to air , nothing effects its quality.
These will no create fog, so no electronic devices
in the system are affected.
Heliodisplay can be used in any country since it
works on 95-115 or 220-240 VAC
No special glasses are required to see the display.
15
DISADVANTAGES
These are very expensive
Viewing a Heliodisplay image in direct sunlight is
almost impossible
Screen is essentially air, so it can become distorted
with too much air movement in the room
16
APPLICATIONS

Advertising
Video conferencing
Virtual surgery and pre-operative planning
Military training programs
Gaming
Engineering/architecture plans
Build the Heliodisplay into furniture
17
CONCLUSION

Heliodisplay has great potential and would be ideal
for collaborative work
Heliodisplay is still in the initial stage and the flaws
of cost and environment of positioning will soon be
overcome.
Several other thin air-displays are available but
heliodisplay outclass them, because of the attention
it draws and its maintainability, and as a result it
has more market value
Its various applications such as in advertising, a
board room etc suggests that its future scope is
very bright.
