Introduction

The operation and management method of the ARIEL system contains Serial
Input/Output (SIO) and Local Area Network (LAN).
Theses two methods are commonly named as Operation and Maintenance System
(OMS)

On the other hand, the ARIEL OMS program that is based on the Graphical User
Interface is used for system management with direction connection to the system or
connection through Internet in case of the LAN.

The ARIEL OMS, PC application program is basically designed to exchange and save
information between system and operation terminal using the LAN, and if necessary,
to enable the system operator to enhance management convenience by reconfiguring
saved information (data)

The ARIEL OMS can be broadly classified into tow programs.. GUI type program and
Man Machine Language terminal program based MML.

The MML terminal method allows operator to process quickly data input and output
since it is based on the text processing.
However, it requires much experience since the operator has to remember of refer to
many commands.

The GUI OMS is configured with the tree structure like Windows Explorer. Main menu
and several sub-menu are displayed on the concerned GUI screen and interrelated so
that relevant menu can be conveniently controlled.

Balloon help text is provided by the GUI OMS that displays the detailed help text
directly on the active window. Also, help text with the same format as the Windows
Help is provided.
Internal structure of OMS

ARIEL OMS is composed of several independent programs, unlike most of the


exchange maintenance program that is composed of a single execution file.

Each program is running as an independent execution file and exchanges data inside
the Pc, which includes the program that handles socket, main OMS composed of the
actual configuration window, status window that displays the status of the exchange
<NL terminal that accepts MML command and confirms its result, data generation
program that generates the exchange data, and loading and backup program that
loads and makes a backup of the exchanges system program and data.
OMS – How to install OMS

1. Execute the “Setup.exe” in the relevant directory of the CD-


ROM

2. When the welcome dialog box appears, read the message


and
press the Next button

3. The destination Directory indicates the directory where the


OMS
will be installed. If the user wants to modify installation
location, press the Browse button to change it. Press the Next
button when modification is finished

4. The Setup Type screen enables the user to select the type
of installation. Typical installation copies all programs to the
destination directory, whereas the Compact installation
installs only the OMS programs. Otherwise, the user can
select Custom installation that allows the use to select the
preferred programs out of OMS, production program and
system program. Press the Next button when modification is
finished.

5. When the Custom button is selected, the list of program is


displayed. Check the intended program and press the Next
button. If the Typical or Compact option is selected, the
following screen is not displayed and the installation
procedure skips to the step6.

6. The Program Folder means the ARIEL folder name that will
be created on the Windows Program folder installation is
completed. Press the Next button to proceed when
modification is finished.

7. The below screen enables the user to check the


selected options. When selection is correct, press the
Next button.

8. The gauge control shows progress of the installation


procedure.

9. When installation is completed, the link file list will be


created on the Windows program folder

10. When stage 7 installation is completed, installation is


completed. Check the copied files by referring to the
Appendix of this manual to see if installation is complete.
OMS - Tool bar ICON

OK button: Actually sends message to the system after performing addition, modification
or deletion work

Cancel button: Cancels addition, modification or deletion work

View button: Retrieves information after entering retrieval condition value

Add button: Add value

Delete button: Deletes the selected item

Close button: Closes the selected item


OMS - Login

The Login window will be activated when the OMS is started. The user has to input the password to
proceed.
By default, User ID is fixed as “ARIEL” (Only this ID exists)

For example,if it is between 1000 and 9999, you have to input ‘I’ in
Prefix count, and 3 in digit count using arrows.
and If you click ‘List’, the screen displays Prefix count and digit count
. If you check that, click ‘Ok’
If you click ‘Query’, you can check ‘1000 No.’ at number plan.
Ex) If you add ‘3000No.’, Click Prefix count 3/Digit count 3 and then
click ‘List’ →click ’OK’

1.Click ‘Add’ button.


2.the box color turns to pink.
You put an item from the list, then press ‘OK’ Button.
3.Click ‘Query’ button and confirm the new extension
number.

•This is useful. But If you want to create many


Extension numbers, It will take a long time.
So If you want to produce many extension numbers,
Follow the next.

1.Click ‘Add’ button.


2.Change the Pink color of list and Input existing ones
by selecting an item from the list. And then press ‘OK’
Button.
3.Click ‘Query’ button and confirm extension number

•This way is useful. But If you a nice bit of extension


number, It will take a long time.
So If you want to produce a nice bit of number,

ex) if you want to create numbers from 1001 to 1030


1. Click ‘MML’ list and ‘ and ‘TXMML’
2. When you make No.1000, the screen displays the picture on the left,
(TX MML)
3. Drag the box below and copy it. Then attach to the MML window.
4. CRTE-EXT-TERM:D’1,1001^1030,NODE01,SLOT05,CH02^29,D’1,D’1,D’0
Red underlined part is very important. First part means to create
No.1001 to No.1030 and Second part means it has already used channel 1
as No.1000, so it will be from channel 02 and all the way to channel 29.
This ‘^’ is very important. (When first creating the extension number,
it’s marked with ‘^’ and later when you change the channel or change
the contents it’s marked with “~”
5. Move the curser to the end of the content and tap enter, the screen
displays the change.
6.After all the process is done, you come back to ‘Slot configuration
information(table)’ Click ‘query’ button of menu list to confirm.
And make sure No.1000 to No.1030 are produced.
*You can create different numbers as above.

1. Click ‘System function information’ → ‘Numbering plan information’
→ ‘Feature code’
2. Click on an empty space and press ‘Add’. Then you can see
‘Feature code’ Users input Feature code in ‘Prefix count’ and choose
‘CALLPKUP(DIRECT) in Feature.
3. Click ‘List’ and ‘OK’ in menu window of numbering plan information.
4. Click ‘Query’ to check.
Delete pick up

How to delete extension numbers of Call Pick Up


Group

Click a number you want to delete and click


‘Delete’ and ‘OK’.
If you click ‘Query’ button, you can check the
number has been deleted.

Auto hunting group

1.Double click ‘Administration management’ → ‘ Integration


information’ → ‘ Extension function information’
2. As in this picture, choose ‘Incoming’
3. Input phone No. and click ‘Query’ button.
4. Click ‘Change’ button and you can see four items turned yellow.
5. Check on‘Auto hunt’ list
6. Finally, click ‘OK’ button.

When Hunted subscribers are in use, this function enables you to


Hunt other subscriber in the same group that is available to answer.
1.Double click ‘administration management’ → ‘Extension group
information’ → ‘Auto hunting group information’
2.First choose Auto hunting group number, click ‘Query’ button.
3.Click ‘Add’ button and you can see a small window.
4. Input subscriber’s start phone number and last phone number.
And click ‘List’
5. Finally, click ‘OK’ as in the picture, the screen displays [Add].
6.Click ‘Query’ button to check ‘Auto hunting group’ has been
Created.
Register Individual speed dial

This function is to register speed dial numbers for outside subscribers


Whose numbers are used frequently.

So, you can make the calls by putting in individual speed dial Prefix count and number.
(ex: Prefix count[*11 ] +Number [1]=rings No.1001.

2.User inputs outside phone number in Digit information. Click ‘ Normal ISPD & charge’ and input phone number place.

5. The numbers at the front are the code numbers for speed dial.

So, , when you put individual speed dial Prefix count and number you can ring the number that is registered

3. Input phone number you want to register, choose the right data from the list.
Click ‘OK’ button. ( Input the number you want to get calls to in ‘phone number’ list.
Trunk & ATD information- Add Trunk

[ATD Line information]


ADT is a switchboard which connects extension and CO
-To use ATD, it has to be used with DSLC(DSLC2) board.
You have to produce DALC(DALC2)
-ATD uses one channel,DALC or DALC2.

Double click ‘ATD characteristic information’ → ‘ATD line

Register & Add DOD

*Transmitting line is a physically built electronic line which connects PABX to


PABX to connects phone lines.
*when you add DOD line of ATD, you have to use ATC ,ATC2 board. So,
You have to click ‘Node configuration’ and you have to add a board.

When DOD (Direct Outward Dialing: PBX subscriber ) produces or installs lines ,
follow this process. Explains how to input about C/O (Analog Trunk)

1.Double click ‘Administration management’ → ‘system function information’
→‘numbering plan information’
2. Choose ‘Trunk’ and click ‘Query’ button.
3. You have to check if there is DOD number [9].
4. If there isn’t [9] , you have to add [9]

([Route group No.1]means using trunk number)
Click ‘ Trunk group information’ of menu. If you add group No.1 , click blank and ‘Add’ button. After input

Reference: Set ISDN Trunk for Trunk type 1. DPRI of Trunk
type 2 means Incoming/ outgoing signal.
You can put in 30 channels on MDTC board set for ISDN PRI,
But better do it on MML window to avoid doing it one by one.

CALL BACK

*In case of calling extension and trunk, and the line is busy, if you
set up (CALL BACK) and hang up, it will connect you automatically
after the other party hangs up or when there is an unused line.
You put up the receiver to ring the other party or if it is trunk, it
Occupies a line automatically and rings the number.

( in case of Trunk, can be reserved only for trunk line, but out side calls
can’t be reserved.)

After Extension subscriber listens the busy signal tone and click
‘Flash’ then click ‘Feature Code’, subscriber can hear the signal.
After you register this function, you will hear the ringing first, then
it rings the other party.
Call Waiting

*when an extension subscriber is on the line, you can dial the subscriber
Informing there’s a Call waiting.
The party hears the alarm, can hold the previous line and can talk on
another line
-in case of ATD call subscriber, it can not interrupt.
-Difference from Camp on: ‘Call waiting ‘ is to reserve the first call
And talk with the new caller.
