MARKET & INDUSTRY ENVIRONMENT

Info of existing product available in the related field and their

strength/weaknesses
1. Flat Plate Collectors (FPC) based Solar Water Heaters
There are 60 BIS approved manufacturers of Solar Flat Plate Collectors.
2. Evacuated Tube Collectors (ETC) based Solar Water Heaters
There are 44 MNRE approved ETC based solar water heating suppliers.

Strength of our product over conventional SWH:1. Water can be heated at any time of the day and night.
2. The small packs/container of dry zeolite can be used as mobile heater.
3. The drawback in SWH of reducing temperature of hot water is
completely removed in this product.
4. Number of water heating and zeolite drying cycles can be done in
single day which is not possible in SWH.
5. Zeolite is porous material so the surface to volume ratio of zeolite is
more. Due to this, zeolite can store 5 times more heat compared to
water.
6. Size of the system is less compared to SWH. So less roof top area is
required for this
system.

Weakness of our product over conventional SWH:1. It uses vacuum pump to recharge the zeolite.
2. Compared to conventional SWH, maintenance cost will be more as
there is moving parts
in the system.

COMPETITION SCENARIO & ENTRY BARRIERS

ENTRY BARRIERS
Lack of available financing for SWH businesses and consumers
A lack of awareness about the favorable lifecycle economics of SWH
technology
Lack of government policy supporting EE/RE
Lack of information dissemination and consumer awareness about
energy and EE/RE

There is a limited amount of capital going towards new investments in solar

technology.

GAPS
TECHNOLOGY GAPS: Supporting local and adapted technology and business model innovation
GAPS

NEEDS

Lack of a formal system to support moving from ideas to

implementation

Improved structures for R&D commercialization

Technology training not up to date to build necessary capacity

Support from governments, private sector and research institutions.

COMPANY GAPS: Building existing private sector capacity and creating a pipeline of high-impact new ventures
Individuals and businesses have a poor understanding of the value
of climate technology goods and services

Training and education (including philosophies) Initiatives informed

by consultants and customized to local situations

Difficulty in finding skilled and experienced people

Scholarships, sponsorship, mentoring and Internships Comprehensive

training at all levels using the appropriate content.

FINANCE GAPS: Facilitating access to flexible sources of finance for product development and early company growth
Lack of working capital for business operations

Facilitation of access to mentorship and financing opportunities

with larger established companies

Financial institutions lack technical expertise and knowledge for

evaluating climate technology projects

Facilitation of bank financing through the use of an independent

expert to work with financial institutions

MARKET GAPS: Creating new and expanding local, regional, and global markets
The price of climate tech is high, especially for low income users

Proposed Mitigation Measure

Management team
and staff

There are risks associated with the

unavailability or lack of talent to manage
the centre
Other risks include the selection of a
manager and/or staff who are ineffective
at delivering the expected Results

Salaries of CCIC management have been

calculated at competitive market rates to
attract required talent.
Local advisory committee will specify
the job description and associated terms
and conditions of employment for each
employee

Capacity &
Governance

Risk that the project implementation

team lacks adequate staffing, processes
