This document discusses analytical and critical thinking skills needed for academic writing. It defines key terms like analyze, discuss, and reflect. Analytical thinking involves scrutinizing information from multiple perspectives, checking for errors, and questioning assumptions. Critical thinking means carefully considering information, evaluating evidence, and re-examining viewpoints if needed. Both skills help develop a "detective mind" and ability to write balanced arguments and identify weak information. The document provides examples of flawed statements and explains how these thinking skills benefit academic work.
