These are paints applied to either exterior or interior including brickwork and
concrete.
It is used for painting exterior wall surface mainly for preventing water
penetration and reductions of dirt collection.
Suitable for coating concrete as well decorating indoor and outdoor walls.
These are applied to dry powders basically made from Portland cement by
addition of pigments, fillers, accelerator(cacl),water repellents(calcium
stearate) and fungicides.

Also available in different colours for different surfaces.

Manufacturing process

Thoroughly mixing with dry

components of formulation.

Grinding the mixture in the pulveriser

to very fine powder.

The reagents, pigments, plasticising

materials and preservatives are
added in correct proportions.

After mixing the batch is passed

through high speed pulveriser and
ground until the whole batch has
been reduced to degree of fineness.

The properly mixed material is then

packaged for supply.

Procedure for application

Preparation of substrate:

Cleaning of the surface from mortar droppings, dirt,

dust, grease and other foreign matters.

Repairing the patches on the area to be painted by

plastering a coat of cement paint on it after wetting the
surface completely.

Cleaning the existing paint/ whitewash thoroughly by

scrapping all old surface particles of the whitewash or
colourwash.

Treating for Organic growth by treating it with fungicide

solution and left for at least 12hrs.

Wetting the surface for application cement paint.

Mixing the cement paint

Two parts of cement paint and one part of water are

taken in a clean bucket and stirred thoroughly to a
smooth paste.

Cement paint must be added gradually to the water

and not vice versa.

Remaining one part of water is added to the mixture.

Solution is stirred thoroughly to obtain smooth

flowing slurry for easy application.

coating

ADVANTAGES

Distinguishable due to their better performance than distempers for outdoor protection
and decoration of buildings.

Compatible with cement rendered surfaces.

Can also be applied on damp surfaces as water retained on surface helps in curing( not
possible with oil paints)

Painting with cement paints require lesser skill.

The cement paint is not affected from Alkalinity of walls due to use of lime.

Good weather resistance and durability.

Good fire resistance since not have any toxic or fire hazardous materials in it.

Water proof and damp proof.

DISADVANTAGES

The walls have to be wetted

before application.

Walls should not be smooth as

cement paint not adhere to
surface.

Require water curing and

repainting not possible.

Should not be applied on surfaces

which are oil painted ,gypsum
plastered or lime washed.
