The attacks on the military, especially the
successful storming of the general headquarters (GHQ), was not the work of "scared“ "village boys" and would-be suicide bombers, as Pakistani analysts have noted, but of hardened commandoes (special type of terrorists). Their long stand off in GHQ was facilitated partly by the fact that they hid themselves in and knew their way around the warren of underground tunnels in GHQ meant for the protection and evacuation of Pakistani generals in emergencies, pointing to internal army conspiratorial aid to these terrorists. Liaquat Baloch of JI • He said the jihadi’s killing Pakistan’s civilians and military were misguided and were only doing so because the Americans were in Afghanistan. It all starts with “if the Americans were not in Afghanistan”… • Marvi Memon of PML-Q Recommendation • The military needs to understand that we NEED more counterinsurgency troops, equipment, and training. And not tanks, submarines, and other high-priced items which are being peddled.
• This is a battle which requires agility, mobility,
and lucid minds. • Despite the military’s past track record with regard to interference in political affairs and pursuance of illegitimate foreign policy goals through non-state actors, Pakistan needs a disciplined, cohesive and efficient today more than ever before. • Anything less than a full-on counter terrorism effort from the Pakistani military will attract more serious challenges tomorrow than those it confronted yesterday. Conclusion The Army and Air Force are carrying out their duties splendidly. They have cleared swat and are now in the process of eliminating the Taliban from South Waziristan. Once these areas are completely secured the Taliban will become history. Despite a BOMB a day, people have not lost hope yet. They believe that it will be over soon. They understands that Pakistan and Taliban can not co-exist one has to yield and that is not Pakistan. Since its inception, Pakistan has been under the Indian threat, a neighbor that is 10 times bigger than Pakistan, so how can a band of desperados (Taliban) make Pakistan do its bidding?
