Custom Development Management

Kit
There are Three aspects for Custom Development Management Kit
Clearing Analysis
Clearing Analysis is the analysis of custom objects and modifications
made to SAP standard objects in order to identify the used and unused
custom objects and modifications. You can delete custom objects and
modifications not used in the system.
Upgrade / Change Impact Analysis
Upgrade / Change Impact Analysis identifies the impact that a support
package or upgrade will have on any custom developments in the
system.
Change and Transport System Analysis
You can analyse objects that are contained in transport requests. For
these objects, you can determine whether these objects are actively
used, and also usage information.

22

Upload/Download Project Contents

Project Implementation/Upgrade
Work Center

This work center is the central access to all the information and
functions you need to implement and upgrade SAP solutions.

Contains the information of the project type (implementation project,

maintenance project, upgrade Project etc.

It also has Business Function Prediction Service

Also it contains the Overview of business scenarios and objects
assigned to the scenarios/processes/process steps, delivered by
SAP, by organizational area and SAP solution/application:
Documents
Transactions
Configuration objects, e.g. IMG assignments
Business process graphic etc.
27

Road map

Road map contain standard ASAP methodology and key milestones

It has following components as per ASAP methodology like
Project phases
Work Packages
Activities
Tasks

28

Project Administration

Key Functions of Project Administration are:

Project Scope
Project Team Members
Project standards
System landscape
Create, change Transport Templates
Project Transport Request Details
Project Milestones

29

Business Blue Print

This function documents the business processes
In a Business Blueprint for Projects, you create a project structure
in which relevant business scenarios, business processes and
process steps are organized in a hierarchical structure.

You can also create project documentation and assign it to

individual scenarios, processes or process steps. You then assign
transactions to each process step.

When you configure your business processes, the system displays

the Business Blueprint project structure. You can use the Business
Blueprint project structure as a point of reference during
configuration.

30

Business Blue Print

You can also display and edit the project documentation from the
Business Blueprint phase during configuration.

You base all test plans that you create during test organization, on
the Business Blueprint project structure.

31

Tool

33

Configuration Management

The purpose of this part of the Realization phase is to configure the

process requirements you specified in the Business Blueprint phase
in the managed system.

If you use objects from the Business Process Repository in your

own structures, some of them are already assigned to transactions
and BC Sets.

If you create structures independently, that is, without objects from

the Business Process Repository, you can assign transactions in the
Business Blueprint transaction. You can assign BC Sets, IMG
objects, and test cases/business test requirements in the
Configuration transaction.

34

Create Learning Materials

You Copy Roles for the user groups to which you want to send the
learning maps, e.g. purchaser or book-keeper, or create new roles,
if required.

While creating a Business Blueprint and in the Realization phase

Assign Learning Materials to the structure elements in your project,
in the Business Blueprint and Configuration transactions , e.g. Elearning material such as SAP Tutors, presentations or test cases.

After your project test phase, create learning units from the project
structure and the learning material assigned to it, in the transaction
Manage Learning Maps, and generate Learning Maps in HTML
format out of them, for the user groups (roles).

The learning map can be sent to the end user so that the end user
can work independently.
35

Reports

Analysis of administration information

Analysis of the assignments in the project structure
Analysis of test plans
Analysis of the logical components used in a project
Analyses of the change history of tabs and documents
Analysis of the feedback which users have given to a learning map
Analysis of the Roadmaps assigned to a project

Template Management

This process supports you when creating templates that you can
reuse in other projects or solutions. In the context of a global rollout
scenario, you can create templates at headquarters containing
business scenarios, blueprint documents, and configuration content,
and distribute them to subsidiaries

Roadmap, business blue print, configurations, test plans and test

cases can be saved as template.

This helps in reducing the efforts required in Roll outs

Test Management
In test management run through the following phases:
Determining the testing scope
When introducing new SAP solutions, the testing scope can be derived
from the Business Blueprint. When changes are made to the system,
for example activation of support packages), you can determine the
critical business processes using a change impact analysis.
Test planning
You set up a test system, generate test data, develop manual or
automatic test cases, create test plans, and assign test packages to
suitable testers.
Testing
You initiate the execution of manual and automatic tests and check the
progress and results of the test.

Change Control Management

This process controls changes in all type of projects, such as

implementation, template or upgrade projects, in a comprehensive
workflow. You create requests for change, can edit them, and
implement changes. You can perform the change request management
activities across technology stacks and application components
The administration of the change control comprises the following
measures:
Enhanced Change and Transport System
Allows you to transport Java objects and SAP-specific non-ABAP
objects and non-SAP applications in the system landscape, as well
as ABAP objects.

47

Change Control Management

Quality Gate Management

Provides a phase-based overview of the status of your software
change projects. The project phases end in quality gates. By
releasing a quality gate, the import lock is removed and an import
into subsequent systems is possible. As long as a project is in the
initial status, no changes and transports can be created.
Change Request Management
Allows you to process your projects universally in SAP Solution
Manager: from change management and project planning, through
resource management and cost control, to the physical transport of
the changes from the development environment into the production
environment

using the End-to-End Monitoring and Alerting infrastructure.
System Monitoring
You can monitor all systems in a solution in real-time, based on the
Computer Center Management System (CCMS).
Data Volume Management
You can monitor the data volume in your system landscape and reduce
total operating costs by decreasing the size of the databases and the
monthly increase in data.

65

Technical Operations

Technical Administration
You can perform efficient planning, implementation, execution, and
reporting of the day-to-day operational activities.
Root Cause Analysis
You can analyse the root cause of an incident and provide solutions for
distributed and multi-technology solutions using a top-down approach.
Technical Reporting
You can run reports about system availability, Service Desk messages
or Change Request Management across solutions. You can also

system, to display them, and to execute additional tasks associated
with them. In addition to Hot News, which has been integrated into
System Recommendations, you can manage Security Notes,
Performance Notes, Legal Change Notes, and Correction Notes.
These functions are available in the Change Management work center.
Maintenance Optimizer
The Maintenance Optimizer suggests relevant product versions and
systems for maintenance, based on SAP Solution Manager system
landscape data, and leads you through the steps to download and
implement the product maintenance files. These functions are available
in the Change Management work center.

79

Maintenance Management

Note Assistant
Enables corrections described in SAP Notes to be imported
automatically.

License Management
With a valid maintenance contract, you can supply your managed
systems automatically license data (licenses and maintenance
certificates) using the SAP Solution Manager. You need the license
data to download SAP Support Packages with various installation tools.
These functions are available in the Change Management work center.
