The Crisis
The Great Depression was a severe period
of worldwide economic crisis, in the years
preceding the World War II.
It was the longest, most widespread and
deep crisis in the 20th century.

How it began
Firstly, with the found of gold in Alaska, South America
and Canada the U.S. who held the gold standard at the
time received a great influx of wealth.
This led to consumer confidence and the people found
that investing in the stock market was a great
opportunity to become rich quickly.

Preamble
As the economic situation was doing better and
better, getting a loan was relatively easy and
people started asking for loans to invest the money
in the stock market.
A great amount of money was invested in the stock
market and the economy grew to a point never
seen before.

Black Thursday
On the morning of Thursday, October 24,
1929, stock prices dropped. Too many
people were selling their stocks.
12.9 million shares were sold.

October 29, 1929, "Black Tuesday", is
known as the worst day in stock market
history.
Since everyone was selling and nearly no
one was buying, stock prices collapsed.
