ANCIENT BALI
Ancient Bali was a small island which covered with
dense forest and nice nature condition. Bali was started
inhabited by around 2000 BC by the Austronesian
People who migrated originally from Southeast Asia
and Oceania through Maritime Southeast Asia. They
started to build houses and agricultural land.

BALI TODAY
Bali has developed into tourism island. Its beautiful
nature, kindly and friendly people attract tourist
overseas across the country. Much more land
converted into building, and infrastructure to
support the tourism development.

POPULATION IN ANCIENT
BALI
In Ancient Bali, there are nine hindu sects are existed,
namely Pasupata, Bhairawa, Siwa Shidanta, Waisnawa,
Bodha, Brahma, Resi, Sora, and Ganapataya. Each Sect
revered a specific deity as its personal Godhead. In 1343
the Majapahit Empire founded a Balinese colony. In 15 th
century when the decline of the Majapahit Empire there
was an exodus of intellectuals, artist, priest, and
musicians from java to bali.

As bali becoming a tourism island, there much more
people comes to bali, searching job and stay life in
bali. The population increased and bali start to
become one of the most dense population island in
indoneisa, after java island.

SETTLEMENTS IN ANCIENT

according to Asta Kosala-Kosali (a rule how to make
a nice house in hindu value tradition). Inside the
house there are Bale Daja (meten Bandung) Bale
Dangin (Bale Gede), Pewaregan (kitchen), Jineng
(place to store rice), and Mrajan (family temple)

house is getting rare now.

complex irrigation called subak to grow rice. Even
tough this system still existence and running in bali

In ancient bali people likely using dokar (twowheeled cart pulled by a horse), bicycle, nor walking
as their transportation.
Lontar (palm leaf) was used to write a news or
another information to communicate with others in
ancient bali.

The globalization brings advance technology. People
leaving the bicycle and more likely to use a
motorbike and cars.
They also not using lontar again to write news or
information to communicate with others. They more
likely to use newspaper, books, or even social media
and internet to communicate with others
