Who is Christopher
McCandless?
 Christopher McCandless was born in a
middle-upper class family that ‘cared’ a lot
about money and material things.

 He is an American who has everything it

takes to have a good life…
 A sucessful job;
 A family who supports him; etc…

 But no….he prefers to choose the fantastic
things that our planet can offer him which
is:

FREEDOM….and…HAPPINESS

 Because... he could simply get married,

work and live the lie in which his life was
inserted. But for him this doesn’t work. He
doesn’t want to live a fake life like so many
people around him…

Happiness
 Christopher McCandless chooses to enjoy
his freedom, and live it… He chooses the
hardest way, he wants to live his own
happiness far from everything, far from
the things he had always despised:
Money and the Material Things…the
things human beings depend on and on
which they base their life, without
seeing the world around them…

 This film is amazingly directed by Sean

Penn, and the soundtrack, by Eddie
Vedder, is amazing, too…

 «Into the wild» is a film that I’ll never

forget…it’s a film to record and I
recommend that you see it too.

 We become emotional when we see this
film because it makes us think and reflect
that we have such a short life that money,
material things and stupid arguments
don’t have the right to stand in the way of
our happiness;

 It makes me think, too, that I’ve to do

what I like because I have to enjoy my life
with the things that I love and adore.

 When Christopher McCandless makes his happiness
ideal come true, in Alaska, and when he is preparing
for his last moment in life he said:

“I have had a happy life and thank the lord. Goodbye

and may god bless you all”

So in his last moment he concludes that his life was…

Free…unique…truthful…and so, he ends in peace!

Why is he a reference to me?

 Christopher McCandless is, and will always be a

reference to me; he is a very inspiring person
to me…He fought for his dream. He went to
Alaska where he died on 18 August 1992.
 This is very, very important because in life we
have to fight for our dreams…and hedid it…
without money and material things, so he’s
certainly inspiring and a reference to me…
