MOTUBO SA PAGSIMBA

FAITHFULNESS TO GOD IN THE MIDST OF

PRESSURE TO COMPROMISE

TO BOW OR BE BURNED

DANIEL 3:1-30
5. That at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer,
and all kinds of music, ye fall down and
worship
the
golden
image
that
Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6. And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth
shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a
burning fiery furnace.

- As a Christian, have you been

pressured to compromise what is
right?
- In what circumstances had it happen to
you?
- And what did you do to resist such
pressure?

1. THE SETTING:
NEBUCHADNEZZAR BUILT AN IMAGE
TO BE WORSHIPPED (V. 1-6)
The cost must be highly exorbitant: goldplated
The size is extremely enormous: 90 ft.
tall; 9 ft. wide
The sight is strategically visible: in the
plain of Dura.

1. THE SETTING:
NEBUCHADNEZZAR BUILT AN IMAGE
TO BE WORSHIPPED (V. 1-6)
The sound is perceptibly audible: an
orchestra is present (vv. 5, 7, 10, 15)
The crowd is immensely great of various
ranks: important officials came from the
farthest corners of the Babylonian
Empire.

LESSON TO LEARN:

Idolaters are fond of novelty and

vanity.
We live in a world of senseless
people.

2. THE DECREE:
EVERYONE IS TO FALL DOWN AND
WORSHIP THE IMAGE (VV. 5, 6)
Nebucchadnezzar was an irresistible
force.
Bowing down was no problem to the
vast majority of the people.

LESSON TO LEARN:

People around us are pressuring us

to join them in their sins.

3. THE RIGHT CHOICE:

TO PLEASE GOD WHATEVER THE
CONSEQUENCES
- They did not compromise: They had
nothing to do with the worship of
false idols.
- They demonstrated their faith visibly:
When everybody else bowed down,
they remained standing.

3. THE RIGHT CHOICE:

TO PLEASE GOD WHATEVER THE
CONSEQUENCES
They accepted the charges boldly:
No apologies and no excuses.
There was full determination: There
was no condition or bargaining with
God (v. 18)

LESSON TO LEARN:

It is easy to refuse to bow down if the

rescue is certain.
But their determination was that even
if they were not rescued, they would
still not bow down.

4. THE OUTCOME:
GOD SHOWS SPECIAL CARE TO THOSE
WHO REMAIN TRUE TO HIM (V. 19-30)
Christs presence was with His people
in their suffering: The place of
unprecedented heat was also the
place of unprecedented fellowship
with the Savior (v. 25)

4. THE OUTCOME:
GOD SHOWS SPECIAL CARE TO THOSE
WHO REMAIN TRUE TO HIM (V. 19-30)
Nebuchadnezzar had recognized who
God is (v. 28)
A powerful impression had been
made for God among the nations
(v. 29).

CONCLUSION:

THE CHRISTIAN COMMITMENT

1. Our duty is to do the right; the consequences are with
God.
2. Nobody loses by refusing to sin. God gives a million
consolations to His children who refuse to compromise.
3. There is no fiery furnace which a man can invent that
can destroy the people of God.
4. What a great God we have! He always rewards faith.
The times of adversity are usually times of opportunity
to experience the power and
presence of God.
