3 CORE Components of the Diploma
Programme:
1. Theory of Knowledge (TOK): How do we know
what we know? A course unlike any other offered
in non-IB schools. A study of how cultural
experiences and personal biases factor into what
and how we know.
2. Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS): Provides a
framework for experiential learning. Students
complete their own projects to further develop their
habits of heart and mind.
3.

What are admissions officers saying about
IB Programmes?
IB is well known to us as excellent preparation. Success in an
IB programme correlates well with success at Harvard. We
are pleased to see the credential of the IB Diploma Programme on
the transcript.
Marlyn McGrath Lewis, Assistant Dean of Admissions, Harvard
University

The IB is a first-rate programme, one we are familiar with, and

it prepares students well for a university like ours.
Fred Hargadon, Director of Undergraduate Admissions, Princeton
University

We have looked very carefully at how IB students from

Chicago Public Schools are doing at DePaul and we can see
that they are doing well. They are academically prepared,
