3 CORE Components of the Diploma
Programme:
1. Theory of Knowledge (TOK): How do we know
what we know? A course unlike any other offered
in non-IB schools. A study of how cultural
experiences and personal biases factor into what

1. Turn in your attendance form to a designated
representative.
2. Attend one or more school-specific break-out sessions,
which are occurring directly after this general session.
These sessions are not mandatory, but they provide a
good opportunity to hear from school staff directly.
3. If you wish to attend school Open Houses, upcoming
dates are listed on one of your handouts. You may also
contact the IB Coordinator directly if you are interested
in other opportunities to visit the school.
4. After today, if you havent already done so, go online to
apply.cps.edu, log in, and apply to up to six IB schools.

5. If you dont want to go back online, you can apply using
a paper application instead. Applications can be
downloaded and printed at cpsoae.org (click Apply and
Application Materials).
6. You must apply by Dec. 12, 2014. Online
applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on
December 12th and paper applications must be
postmarked by December 12th.
7. Notification letters are sent to parents by the Office of
Access and Enrollment by February 20, 2015.

8. Students are selected based on an overall
applicant score
a. performance on the NWEA MAP (450
points) and
b. seventh grade final (cumulative) grades in
reading, math, science, and social studies
(450 points).
c. Students residing within the boundary of a
high school with an IB program will
receive 50 additional points. These points
will be awarded before the selection
process.

9. Confirmation forms to accept or decline an offer are
sent by parents directly to the school.
10.Eligible, non-selected students remain in an
applicant pool, ranked by score.
11.Remaining seats are filled based on the applicant
