• Pictures and ornaments
in churches are the
lessons and the
Scriptures of the laity.
• They posses knowledge
and are meant to be
looked or read.

are the work of man’s
hand.
• Nothing but God itself
is allowed to be
worshipped.

occupation, giving light to others.
• Banners are also suspended above altars: that
in the church that triumph of Christ may
evermore be held in mind, by which we also
hope to triumph over our enemy.

• The book of the Gospel is fixed on the altar,
because the Gospel had Christ for its author,
and bear witness to Him.
• The book is adorned on the outside, for the
cause that we will make mention of hereafter.
