HISTORY/ BACKGROUND
OF THE AGENCY
Known as Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran MARA (KYPM)
Managed by Kolej Poly-Tech MARA Sdn. Bhd that,
wholly owned subsidiary of Majlis Amanah Rakyat
(MARA).
Have 7 campuses in Kuala Lumpur as the main
campus and branches in Bangi, Kuantan, Kota
Bharu, Alor Star, Ipoh and Batu Pahat.
Collaboration with the local and international
universities and partner institutions.

Acquisition Department
responsible for the acquisition of library materials,
including materials ordering process, catalog circulation
publishers to lecturers for material selection, quotation of
material, data acquisition records, statistics and other
relevant is the responsibility Puan Nafizah Yazid.
Classification and Cataloging Department
Pn. Rossela Bt Jelani Library Assistant responsible for
processing the materials from the acquisition process .

SERVICES OFFERED BY
THE AGENCY
1 Photocopy
All the materials in library such as books, journal and
magazine students or staff can use machine photocopy
for free. But materials from outside library students not
allowed used machine photocopy.

2 WiFi
WiFi are available in the library KPTM Alor Star.
Students can use wifi to access information and online
materials as references

Computer
For students that do not have computer they can
come to library and use computer in library.

Reading Area
Reading area is to improve the facilities and services
in KPTM offer to users.

Waiting Area
KPTM make comfortable facilities for user while waiting for
the next class. At waiting areas KPTM provide sofa seatsfor
users.

Lockers
Students will be given the key and return the key back after
class sessions end.

Counter Circulation
Lectures, staff and students may borrow books and
reserve materials at the circulation counter upon
presentation of a valid KPTM ID

Open shelf books are generally for circulation and
located in the general reading area.

3. Reserve Collection
This collection is confined to high- demand materials.

CD ROMs are among the formats available in library.

 Koha is the first open-sources integrated in library

system (ILS)
In the integrated online library system al-Kindi use
a system Koha (open sources) for their system
In this system there are few type system that we
can see and always use it for example is
circulation, cataloging, serials, OPAC and so on

Issue
The web OPAC cant be use and hard for their students
to find the books or materials that they need.
Students study based on module, so that books and
other materials available in the library just a waste,
cause the student do not use it.

KOHA which is only the staff available to use the system.
Staff at the library for us not enough to do the job
is there is no serial department at the library

Speciality
Students which are not have a computer to do an
assignment can use the lab
The students can use these machine to photocopy the
materials for free but not for their assignment
Al-Kindi library also provide internal room for staff
which is near for students to refer if any problem occur
Washroom provided by the library
Soft copy materials such as journal, articles,video and
audio are keep in CD or DVD

Recommendation
Repair the OPAC system
College Poly-Tech Mara (KPTM) should change a
little their style of learning (not only used
modele )
The staff must always conduct the activity at the
library to ensure better promotion
