Pushlike Pattern
Pushlike Mechanical Objectives
• Force activities
• Power activities
• Accuracy activities
Force Activities
• To manipulate a resistance
• Creating the highest possible velocity of object
• Associated with force production throughout
ROM without regard to velocity of moving
Power Activities
• To generate maximum power
• Similar to force activities
• Produce great force to accelerate resistance in
a limited amount of time
• Peak power occurs after peak force in time
• Peak velocity of body occurs after peak power
record
Power Activities
• There are 4 categories of activities :
– Jumping activities
– Takeoffs for aerial events
– Starts in events that moving body over a
prescribed distance as fast as possible
– Continuous events with intermittent application of
force
Accuracy Activities
• To maximize the accuracy of projection
• The Throw-Push Continum
The Throw-Push Continum
• Require blending of throw-push pattern into a
combination
• Skill performs with sequential rotations on
one end and performs with simultaneous
rotations on the opposite end
The Throw-Push Continum
• Constraints that influence the location of skill
on the continum
– Massiveness of object to be projected
– Size of object to be projected
– Shape of object
– Strength of performer
– Skill of performer
Simultaneous Segmental Rotation
• Pushlike pattern moves the point of contact in
rectilinear path
• To control hand to move in straight line
• High-accuracy skill
• Govern performance of accuracy events
• Require precision in the direction of projection
• Guide object in an accurate path
Pushlike Characteristics
• Segments are positioned behind object to be
projected
• Segmental rotations occur silmultaneously ot
produce high accuracy or force or both
• Object kept close to rectilinear path before
contact or release
• Leverlike movements
