Comment
Process management functionalities lack in 7.0 NW version, they
have now been integrated (with UI enhancements) in 7.5.
Accenture AEPM asset provides out-of-the box tools to partially
mitigate this lack also in 7.0 NW.
NW releases have a significantly higher degree of integration, enabled
by the SAP NetWeaver platform. 7.5 NW is fully integrated with SAP
ERP and BI, with integrated flows and drill back capabilities.
User friendly tool for managing consolidation perimeter, methods and
percentages was not available in 7.0 NW, but is now available in
7.5NW
Accenture AEPM asset provides out-of-the box tools to partially
mitigate this lack (excel based) also in 7.0 NW.
Validation engine to prevent not coherent data to be saved into
database has been greatly improved in NW releases, being moved to
the back end ABAP layer.
Audit functionalities have been extended in BPC 7.5 NW to support
tracking of all security changes, BPF activities, enable/disable of the
audit option.
NW releases fully supports lifecycle management, MS, MS does not
Accenture AEPM has proven methodologies to effectively manage
lifecycle also on MS version application.
Indication about product maturity takes into account age of the
release and recent platform changes (MS->NW).

SAP BPC Introduction

BPC Roadmap until 2011

Release upgrade or migration SAP

guidelines

SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 7.5, version for the Microsoft platform, is an
evolutionary release from 5.1, and customers will be able to upgrade with minimal effort:
o A 5.1 to 7.5 version for the Microsoft platform is similar in effort to applying a Support Package to 5.1.
o There is full backwards compatibility for all functionality in 5.1.

There is no direct upgrade path from 5.1 to 7.5, version for SAP NetWeaver but migration tools
may exist
o A migration from 5.1 to 7.5 version for SAP NetWeaver is more involved than an upgrade because 7.5
version for SAP NetWeaver is not the successor release to 5.1 and does not contain full backwards
compatibility.
o The migration tools automate a significant portion of the migration, however there are specific
components that will require manual rework, and some components that will not migrate at all.
o It is completely optional to migrate to the version for SAP NetWeaver. Customers who wish to stay on
the version for the Microsoft platform may continue to do so, and upgrade to the successor release
(7.5 version for the Microsoft platform).
