What It Means

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE GIVEN A DAYITWA IN SANGH

In Sangh, there are no elections

Nor is there any campaigning
The Karyakartas or Adhikaris sit down and discuss this agenda
Many people are consulted before the responsibility is given to them
Based on what qualities one possesses
Also based on what qualities one must possess (*example)
To develop skills that will develop you as a person

Why Me?

One might often wonder so

It is the need of Sangh Karya, to develop certain skills in you

So that you can train another swayamsevak who is fond of

you

To pull you out of another task and divert your attention

elsewhere (frog in the well)

To bring about a change with new ideas

To introduce you to a working team where your skills will be

utilized better

To fill in a position that is vacated by another who must

move to another position

Due to the need of the circumstances prevailing

The Story of a Sampark Pramukh

There was a shakha searching for a new sampark pramukh

Karyawah chose Mandeep, who hardly ever talks to people and is shy

Eveyone was shocked at the Karyawahs choice and offered other

suggestions

The Karyawah had a plan

After a couple of months, Mandeep was no longer the shy one. He

spoke elaborately and expressed himself with confidence even to
strangers

Had Mandeep not been chosen for this role, what do you think would
have happened to him in his later life?

Haba na Haba Hujaza

Students busy with school are given duties accordingly

Married and working swayamsevaks are appropriately selected

The retired are also given duties

Each one must perform his roles effectively to get a consolidated

result in the end

The Clock Hands analogy

One has to manage his time to do Sangh duties (* example)

Story of the Waiting man

A man had a good job, very learned, well behaved, very talented

He really wanted to do something for the society to give

something back

But he wanted to earn enough money, and then do the Samaj

Seva after he quits his job and has plenty of time in his hands

He worked day and night and focused only on his job

Then when he finally quit his job he found that his health was not
supporting him

He couldnt walk, couldnt see well, couldnt eat well etc

Now his devotion to do samaj seva, his talent, his knowledge was
not utilized effectively as it should have been

Dont put off the things you ought to do now, else it will be too
late to do what you really want to do

Some examples

Swami Vivekanand
Gave his famous Chicago
speech at 30 years of age.

PEL

Doctorji

At 17 years, won world cup

with Brazil in 1958, in
Sweden.

At the age of 36, started Sangh,

the largest voluntary organization
in the world

Where Do I Begin?

Start at your immediate surroundings

Keep it basic and simple

Dont forget the fundamentals (remember nothing would exist if

not for the fundamental entity that is the molecules or atoms)

Dont ever get depressed or stressed

Create a happy environment to perform your role in

It is a good thing to learn from another shakha that is doing well,

but turning it into a cut-throat comparison is no good for our
Karya

.among other such points

What can you encounter

Differences in opinion

Unlikely or unfamiliar methods of working

More on your plate than you can handle

Influence to do things one way or another from what is expected

Harsh words from an adhikari

Criticism

Never ever expect to get recognition or applause. You will be

disappointed

Raah Kaanto se Bhari he, Kushalataa se Laanghnaa he

In Conclusion

The Daitwa that has been given to you has been well thought
upon. Think of it as an opportunity to make Sanghkarya better

The time to perform your Sangh duties is NOW. Dont put it off to
a later date, when you dont know how the circumstances will be

You will encounter criticism and differences in opinion.Dont be

disheartened

Focus on, and train swayamsevaks who will take up your role
when you will eventually vacate that position. Always have this at
the back of your mind. Sanghwork is continuous and perpetual.
Remember the basis of continuity in Sangh Nirantar
Karyakarta Nirman

Also think of your daitwa as an opportunity to improve yourself

as an individual. One will have to change oneself for the better,
while performing his role
