The rest of my life there.”

AN INSIGHT
Divination  is the attempt to gain
insight into a question or situation
by way of a standardized process or
ritual. Diviners ascertain their
interpretations of how
a querent should proceed by reading
signs, events, or omens, or through
alleged contact with a
 supernatural agency.  Divination
can be seen as a systematic method
with which to organize what appear
to be disjointed, random facets of
existence such that they provide

A Survey of Divination
Consumers

The survey was conducted in January and February 1995; three hundred
people responded to both the questionnaire and the interview. To
help insure as unbiased a sampling as possible everyone who entered
the divination hall (called “Libra” here) during a certain period of
time was approached and asked to participate in the survey; some, of
course, refused.

INFERENCE
The results and conclusion of the survey is limited to
applicability but it contribute to a better understanding
not only of those forms of religiosity closest to everyday
life but of “the religious” in general.

It was also found out that unmarried young women who

participate in face-to-face channels of divination are
seeking
• an original and unique narrative concerning
changes in the immediate Future.

It might also be of use in bringing into the open the

hidden aspects of the lives of ordinary people living in a
post modern world.
