A PROJECT REPORT ON
OFC BASED CONTROL
COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
OF RATLAM DIVISION OF
WESTERN RAILWAY

This Project gives general idea about the


OFC BASED control communication
system working in RATLAM DIVISION of
WESTERN RAILWAY.
Focused on a New Equipment of control
telephone works on OFC or CCEO as per
the RDSO/SPN/66/2007 for providing an
omnibus control circuit for communication
between control office and way stations,
utilizing one speech channel from OFC
network.

There

are 123 Stations in


RATLAM Division which are being
controlled
by

RATLAM Division is a large division. For


effective communication it has following
medias for control communication:

OFC along with quad cable.


Microwave system.
RE cables.
Over Head Wires. (RTM-KNW Section)

This system mainly comprises of two main


system parts :1. Headquarter Equipment Set
2. Way Station Equipment Set
The equipments installed is first time in IR
of this type; M/S MARVAL make. Works on
OFC network with special features.

It comprises the following:-

1.TRE - Test Room Equipment


2.CRE - Control Room Equipment
3.LTE - Local Telephone Equipment
All the above modules can fixed in standard 19 rack and also wall mounted
The system works on -48V DC

It comprises the following:1.MTWE - Multi Telephone Way Station


Equipment and Desk Telephone
2.TWA - Three Way Amplifier
3.RPE - Remote Patch Equipment
4.TDCT - Two Wire Control Telephone
with Dialing facility
All the equipments can be wall mounted or fixed in standard 19 rake.

For this VRLA Battery (2V,120Ah) & 48V SMPS


based
Battery Charger is used.
At all locations STM1 installations Power Supply
is used.

Communication Fail:- May be due to break


in media i.e. OFC, Quad Cable or Over Head
Wires.

Low Speech: - The signal level is tested by


Transmission Measuring Set and to be
adjusted at way station or control office.

Noise:- It is caused due to loose connections


at KRONE ,U links or any other places.

The Protection of the Control Circuit in case


of OFC link failure is achieved by MW
Patching or by BSNL Patching or by
Protection path through another OFC link
Patching.

. TMS (Transmission Measuring Set) KIT

. DIGITAL MULTIMETER

The new equipment used in this system


is robust and works on -48V DC,
so it is almost MAITENANCE FREE
AND REMOTELY OPERATED & MONITORED
suitable for OFC installations.
It completes the general requirements of Train traffic
control communication system.
